I just want to say that it is extremely upsetting watching people fight over someone who might be dead, especially when they probably killed them-self over a YouTuber. Everyone on this fucking site..you all need to just CHILL THE FUCK DOWN. It is upsetting that Squid (Squidbeatz) is claimed to be dead, but that doesn’t mean y’all need to throw a bitch-fit over it. That is something that needs to be handled by the family and friends of Squid/Estée. IF THEY ARE NOT ACTUALLY DEAD, THEN THAT IS A PROBLEM THAT WILL BE SOLVED BY THEM, NOT ANYBODY ELSE. If they are dead, then I am so sorry.
As Mark has said, he is not going to tolerate any of this bullshit starting now.
So, if you would all kindly stop, that would be nice.
Now, as we all have heard, there has been something tragic going on in the fandom. Squidbeatz / Squid has chosen to end her life because of all the bullying. Now, there definitely has been a lot of skepticism towards the validity of this. After all, there are several holes and poor connections that make this story seem incredibly off. However, xypt and I have spent the entire night going through everything to make sure we had our sources and thoughts sorted to make our statement here. I’m serious. We’ve been doing this for the last 6 hours.
We definitely believe that this entire story has been made up.
The following is a link to Squid’s last post -- ultimately the one where she says she will take her life (x). We’ve all likely seen it by now, or at least heard of it happening.
Breaking down information: Be prepared to look around for Zelda cause here’s a bunch of links.
Firstly, here is the link to Mana’s official post about Squid’s death (x). Honestly, it’s surprising to think who would go visit Tumblr right away and spend their time on this site when their friend just died? I surely wouldn’t; that’s a time for grief and privacy, not lashing out at various people over the internet. To everyone’s understanding, the death just happened literally within the last two or three days.
Secondly, here is a link to Mana’s post stating time zones and ages (x). Here she claims she lives in Europe while Squid lives in the US. While it is true that Squid in fact does live in the US, if you check the timezone where Mana is supposed to be, it actually shows that she is also in US Central time.
Hmm? What’s that? Same time zones? How odd. I thought they lived in separate countries?
Furthermore, I wanted to make sure that other blogs had correct time zones to make sure that it wasn’t faulty. If you search up “starryeyedboxes” you’ll get my timezone as “US Eastern/Not set” which is correct because I never did.
I also checked Jack’s blog who was listed as “US Eastern/Not set” as well. However, if you check xypt, it shows US/Pacific, which is definitely where we both live (we actually live about 10 minutes away from each other -- fun fact!). So it was definitely accurate.
I also checked a few other blogs who live in Europe, which their time zones did match up correctly.
UPDATE: It was brought to my attention the time zones were changed after this post was made. The proof of it can be found in this post I made: (x).
Here’s a few more tidbits of information worth looking at: the following link will redirect to a post on a gossip site (GuruGossip) about how her “account is going to get taken down soon.” (x) & ”I feel like something major is going to happen.” (x) This is particularly strange as this wasn’t long before her last post. These are screenshots from GG, where it is actively known she spent a lot of time in. Isn’t it a bit odd how she “felt like something major was going to happen” and that she was expecting her tumblr to be taken down? Even with the expectation her blog would be deleted, she still continued on with the behavior and claiming something was going to happen. That’s a little suspicious.
The usage of the same tags is something also mind-boggling. Mana posts them on various replies to asks, as well as putting them in the tags of the initial post relaying information about the whereabouts of SB.
This information wouldn’t be sufficient alone, using tags is very common on Tumblr obviously… but why is there a need to have the same exact tags for personal asks; what would benefit from doing so? If the intent was to relay the information, why take that into consideration?
After being accused of actually being Squid, she was very malice about the accusation, out of character for someone who lost someone dear to them (x). Generally this isn’t the behavior someone would engage in after hearing someone dear to them has died. Generally, someone who has just received this news would be more reserved and aloof rather than being confrontational and outspoken about the situation. It’s rubbing SB’s death in further.
More proof? Here is a link that leads to where Mana says Squid has had their blog for a longer time, but upon checking, it has no likes (x)
Strange that a blog who has been here for a while has absolutely no likes. Furthermore, upon checking Mana’s blog, at the time I checked only had 9 likes. Mana’s said that they’ve been friends for a while, but their earliest post/known blog age is actually only 8 days.
Also, Squid says she worked hard for 300 subscribers but not once linked the channel to her blog because it would be toxic. Which doesn’t add up, because if you’re working hard for subscribers, social media is the number one way to help. No one else knew the link either. (x) (x) Squid also states here she only had 15 here. Hmm.. (x)
UPDATE: THIS WAS ALSO BROUGHT TO US. HERE IS THE SQUID BEATZ CHANNEL. This is a screenshot of it, and as you can see, ZERO subscribers and they subscribed to Mark a week ago. Yet, Squid said they had 300 subscribers and had been there for almost a year?
It’s no secret that Squid was absolutely foul to both Mark and Jess. The entire blog is dedicated to that. However, she says that she lost respect for Mark and hates him now, but Mana says “she always wanted to meet him” (x) (x). I know if I hated someone as much as these posts suggest, I sure as hell wouldn’t want to meet them.
Even when confronted about the bullying (her calling Jess a cunt: (x)), Squid’s response to this “backlash” that she said she didn’t care about is firm (x) but it is soon switched to the defense a few days later (x). Another instance where she’s called out on bullying others can be found here (x) to which she poorly responds to.
Plus, it has been known that she was doxxed. However, the fandom is mostly made up of teenage girls. It’s quite unlikely that someone actually took the time to steal her credit card number. How would one even get this? According to Squid, her social media and such were deleted, but how in the world would someone gain access of her credit card through this? You don’t make purchases through these apps. If you do, you’d have to be a real hacker to get that information, even if in-app purchases were made. It’s fairly easy to find someone’s workplace -- hell, I can do it with my brother and get his work address and salary right now. But a credit card number? There’s almost no way considering you need the front number, CVV, and expiration date. Three pieces of information that isn’t even accessible by basic logging into the user’s account. The front numbers are x’d out under normal circumstances.
Oh, and uh, did we mention that SOMEONE ADDRESSES HER AS MANA (x). She does not reject or deny this name and continued on as if it were normal. She was addressed as Mana, you know. Mana. The friend.
Another thing that doesn’t connect, is that Squid says that those who send death threats don’t understand what it’s like dealing with people who have mental illnesses (x). Meanwhile, not much later, she engages on wishing death on someone else (x). This can’t possibly be right. How in the world can she switch sides so quickly? That’s not trustworthy at all.
UPDATE: THIS WAS ALSO BROUGHT TO US
This was brought up to me more than once. Squid was saying how her mother had PSTD yet Mana claims it was both. There is another inconsistency here.
Also, a more minute detail, one of the first things a few of us noticed was the similar typing habits. Both blogs use too many unnecessary commas and same incorrect sentence structure. Sometimes, there are lots of ellipses. Yeah, it’s tumblr. None of us type perfectly, I understand. We all are wrecks with typing! But they’re the same mistakes for both. They both structure their posts with the exact same diction and punctuation. My best friend who I spent time with every second with each other and talk don’t even type similarly. The diction is still very much different.
UPDATE: SOMEONE BROUGHT THIS TO US.
It was also mentioned that both keep saying “swept under the rug” and has been brought up numerous times the typing similarities.
Now, one of the biggest holes in this grand scheme is how Mana found out about SB’s death. The apparent contact with the police does not make sense. Mana claims that they provided evidence over the phone about the status of Squid’s state (x). Also, Mana has stated that she panicked over the phone and begged them to tell her even though she was international (x).
Xypt, a criminal justice major, was immediately able to destroy this thought. However, to further backup our case on why this could not have been possible, have this excerpt:
"Therefore, under the common law, a health or social care provider wishing to disclose a patient’s/client’s personal information to anyone outside the team providing care should first seek the consent of that patient/client.
Where this is not possible, an organisation may be able to rely on disclosure being in the overriding safeguarding interest of the individual or others or in the public interest. However, whether a disclosure is in the public interest is not a decision to be taken lightly. Solid justification is required before individual rights are set aside and specialist or legal advice should be sought before the information is disclosed. Any decision to disclose should be fully documented.
There are no clear legal obligations of confidentiality that apply to the deceased. Nevertheless the DHSSPS, Department of Health and the General Medical Council agree there is an ethical obligation requiring that confidentiality obligations continue to apply after death.” (x)
Oh, what’s that? “Solid justification is required before individual rights are set aside and specialist or legal advice should be sought before the information is disclosed.” Hm, you mean, that even after death, their confidentiality has a strong chance of staying? That their status cannot be so easily released...? Crazy. So you mean it’s not likely that Mana could’ve just called, claimed she was a cousin, and gotten a recent history on Squid right then and there? If any information were to be released under these pretenses, it would likely not even be to anyone outside of the parents. Not to mention, there is no way to prove you’re familial blood just saying you’re related over the fun. There’s no tangible proof to show.
Furthermore, while on this subject, we have discussed that it in fact is impossible to have the autopsy and investigation and everything before it can officially be declared so soon. For example, was foul play involved? Was this staged? As Starry’s little, personal anecdote, my grandfather was found at the bottom of the riverbed behind his house. It was ruled as a suicide, the officials saying he jumped, but that was not given to us right away because there needed to be an investigation to rule in all outcomes. When my mother’s cousin killed herself by wrapping a bag around her head, they still had an investigation to prove someone else hadn’t done it to her. It doesn’t work any other way. You can’t find out within mere hours. The cod cannot be ruled so quickly.
As the coroner told me and my family when we expressed how slow the process was, this isn’t CSI.
Also, isn’t it strange how this all happened within a week’s span? That at the beginning of this time period, Squid was fine with all the hate mail saying it made her laugh and she thought it was absolutely hilarious. But by the end, she finally says she wants to call it quits? Also, Squid started posting the hate 18 days ago, but didn’t receive as much attention until the last week or so). In fact, none of us had even heard about this until her death was publicized.
In addition, isn’t it absolutely strange that while everyone says her death was because of suicide, the bulk of the last message was directed towards Mark and Jess? The message was angry that everyone didn’t think she would do it, but outward blames them. In fact, she says “so go and suck Mark’s dick and realize that YOU were the reason I’m dead” about Jess. Squid doesn’t say that towards those who told her to kill herself, but to the person she’s been obsessively hating for a while.
ADDED UPDATE 4 HOURS AFTER ORIGINAL POST:
One of the people working with us on this sent me this. Mana states that she is off to work, but after changing her time zone to Europe, like she said she was in, I was also told to look at this:
Her time zone status states it is at 1:02AM. Upon checking my time zone, my time was correct. So since you have control over what your time zones are on tumblr, she set it specifically to this time zone. Mana went to work a few hours ago, but that is still awfully late at night to go interviewing?
This is all fishy. This is all insanely suspicious, and it’s absolutely aggravating that we were able to find so many flaws in Squid’s behavior and story. What really gets us is that a) same time zones. b) She is outright referred to as Mana but never corrects it. and c) the flat out incorrect method of getting information Squid was even dead. There are so many inconsistencies, and we’ve literally spent hours upon hours analyzing and picking through things to try to sort this out.
Now, we’re accepting full responsibility for what’s going to happen to us. The loss of followers, the incredible amounts of hate that will be sent our way. We’re prepared to burn for expressing this even though none of this was directly insulting Squid. We wouldn’t be standing up for this if we didn’t think it wasn’t right. This fandom has dealt with so much, including the last mishap with someone faking their suicide. We’re also stating this, because we aren’t the first to have noticed the inconsistency. I’ve seen other blogs post about it as well, and considering that xypt and I weren’t the only ones in this chat (the others chose to remain unnamed), the suspicion isn’t random. It’s something many of us have, and definitely for good reason. In fact, we stayed up for hours gathering all of this. It’s currently 8am and I am struggling to spell simple words. We started this at 11:30pm last night. But, this needs to get out asap. And we put far too much time into this for it to be late.
Everything we’ve listed includes irregularities in behavior, plot holes in stories, events that don’t match up. If we are wrong, which with the large amounts of things we have taken the time to point out I somewhat doubt the entire truth is being told, I will of course make a formal apology and I will take what punishment and malice is directed towards me. But, again, we are standing up for this because it doesn’t seem to add up not only to us, but to many others. This fandom’s name has been slapped with the “bullying enough to push someone to suicide” description, and that’s obviously not good. I would rather have this all be a grand lie than someone actually taking their life, no matter how much of a bully they were themselves.
I, Starry, try to stay out of the fandom drama the best I can, but if I feel it needs to be addressed, I will damn well address it. Faking your own suicide is not something that can be overlooked. With so many people who deal with this on a constant basis, it’s a huge slap to their face. Mine included as I have my own attempts under my belt. You’re using our struggles for your personal gain if we are correct. Which is exactly why this isn’t morally right if it is true (which it likely is). Please take this information and make your decisions. Make your own opinions. Know all the information before you assume or believe.
We have provided sources, anecdotes, and analyses. And now, before something happens and any of those links are deleted off Mana’s or even Squids’s blogs, know that we have taken pictures of everything, as well as recorded video that these were not made up in case the photos end up being claimed to be false. We prepared for that situation. If anything is deleted by them, we still have it on record and safely stored away.
Now, take what you’ve learned here, and make your own opinions.
We believe Squid is lying. For these reasons. And we’re not alone.
