"I'm sorry I didn't warn you." for sender to arrive on receiver's doorstep unexpectedly (in our main verse with John but this won't be canon).

Kara had been working on a new comms system when she heard the buzzer go off on her penthouse door. It wasn't often people go up here without her knowing who they were or having permission to but she shrugged her shoulders thinking it must be Ava or Yelena since they didn't just walk in.

As she opened the door, she froze. Maybe she had fallen asleep at her desk, like her father use to. She knew it wasn't a joke because no one would do this and no one looked this close to Steve.

"Steve...."

instantly her nervous fingers went to the one that used to have his ring on it but she'd taken it off not a few days ago. Still out of habit she rubbed the finger round and round. What was she supposed ot say. She'd always know maybe this could happen... maybe they could find a way to get him back. Although no one knew, Hank and Bruce were still working on it.

And now, here he stood in front of her.

Without thinking of anything else in the world, she closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around his neck. The way his arms felt around her was like coming home and her heart was thumping in her chest so hard she knew he'd know. Tears were now coming down her face and all she could do is cry the tears into his neck as she took in the comforting smell of him.

He hadn't let go of her when it cold truth of reality came and smacked her in the face. Her brain screamed at her and she let go of Steve, her body fighting her reality and the moment in front of her.

Then in her mind Kara said his name "John" and the world fell black around her as she passed out.

Natasha smirked at Steve, though he did look worse for the wear...She couldn't help but be amused at the supersoldier asking for Tylenol. "I'll get the towel for you. First aid kit's in the bathroom." She started turning toward the hallway to get the extra towel. "You remember the way?"

Hooves thundered through the woods as the black steed ran through the snowy forest. Normally Ana didn't go out alone, always having to have a member of her Queen's Guard with her, but today was a special day. The one year anniversary of the day her parents were killed by the Boltons. She knew Robb would take issue with her coming out here on her own, but she needed to be alone. She needed to clear her mind. It was the first time she was going to have to experience this. This reminded grief, and she needed to do this her way.

She had snuck out of the Keep, heading for the forest once her and her steed Goliath, the warhorse that had belonged to her father before being passed down to her upon his death. The massive steeds hooves pounded against the snow fallen ground. Winter was on it's way, the weather in the North more fridged. Not the sort of weather you would want to find yourself in with no way of warming herself.

Which was exactly how she found the mysterious blonde man wandering through the woods. He wasn't wearing any sort of clothing she had ever seen before, nor could she even imagine something like what he was wearing. Goliath came to a studdered halt, letting out a neigh at the sudden stranger in his path, as if trying to intimidate the blonde.

"Who goes there?" She asked, not yet coming down from her horse, keeping Goliath ready to take off at any time, her hand slowly going for her bow fassened to her saddle behind her. "You are trespassing in the King's Wood. I would answer quickly."

The anger she’d mustered up for the past year now, all the times she’d told herself that she hated him- that she was better of without him- all of it was just shielding the hurt.  He’d hurt her, there was no questioning that.  But she couldn’t get herself to hate him, and no matter how hard she tried, every single night she’d looked out her window and wondered where he was...wondered if he was safe...if he was okay.

“And now what?” Sharon asked, trying to hide the hoarse pain in her voice.  “We’re going to just repeat the cycle?  You’ll leave me again and I won’t have a clue where you are or if you’re okay?  I’ll still be stuck here in this place, this god awful place, and keep trying to survive? Is that how this works?  What am I supposed to do with that Steve?  Bury it like before?”

And god, how normal is that? Two friends going for a drink? Certainly far more normal than just about anything that had happened to either of them in approximately the last seventy five years. It was nice to have something normal.
