Okay so SOMEONE doing beta designs for gen 2 had a thing for sea creatures with really humanesque anime eyes.  I like it.  I like this 90s anime chibi blob fish.  I like that its fins and tail are organic and asymmetrical.  The name for this one is Manboo1 though.  Why the 1?  That’s apparently really there in the data.  Obviously an error, but it’s weird that it made it into a demo that people were supposed to play.  I suppose you probably weren’t supposed to encounter this particular Pokemon in the demo?  Still, why was there ever a number in a Pokemon name?  It’s just weird is all.

The demo was made two years before Mambo No. 5 was a thing in 1999, so that’s not the answer.
