Découverte du Mandé le 21 mars 2015 à La Biscuiterie

Aissatou Sakho, habitante du quartier de La Vignotte, organise à La Biscuiterie, une journée thématique sur la découverte du Mandé autrement dit sur la culture Malienne. (cliquez sur “view post” pour voir l’article entier)

Au programme plusieurs ateliers pour plonger dans l'univers africain :

À 14h : Ateliers tresses, dégustation, maquillage et musiques traditionnels. 

À 15h : Un conte parlant de la culture du Mandé vous fera plongé dans son univers.

À 16h : Un concert clôturera cette journée autour de la culture Malienne.

Venez donc nombreux pour découvrir cette culture si particulière et vous laissez emporter par les traditions !

Ali Farka Touré and Toumani Diabaté - Ruby

It is time to play tribute to one of the greatest African guitarists, Ali Farka Touré, here accompanied by Toumani Diabaté, famous Kora player, from Mali as well.

Ali Farka Touré led a life filled with musical exploration and innovated African guitar playing as one of the fathers of the desert blues, a beautiful yet unique style that led him to play with those whose life revolved around two rivers: the artists around the Niger river and those of the Mississippi.

If you just discovered him, I highly recommend his album Savane and his beautiful cooperation with Ry Cooder, Talking Timbuktu. Of course the two albums with Toumani Diabaté are masterpieces as well.

On this last album before Touré's death in 2006, the two giants of African music reunited once again after Heart of the moon for a last album entitled Ali and Toumani and once again desert blues and Mandé Kora composition meet in a subtle and emotional way. Again, this work takes its listeners somewhere far away, to a dune lost in the desert near Timbuktu, to a sea of sands and sounds, to a place where you feel everything around you flowing and filled with deeper meaning than one could grasp. A place full of memories, good and bad ones, that somehow seem to move around that dune and make the sands revolve around it, joined by the wind of change.
