Title - 致我们终将逝去的青春 Plot - a group of friends, both boys and girls, coming of age from college in chongqing, losing and finding each other along the way. Quite sad in parts but as far as Chinese movie nights go, and this being my first, I’d say this was a great first pick. Rating - 4/5 stars. I’ll be doing one of these every other day to get my listening skills up from now. If anyone has any recommendations don’t hesitate to drop me a message.

Pinyin:
A：Wang2 Xian1sheng5, ni3 shi4 lao3shi1 ma5?
B: Wo3 bu4 (”bu“ is pronounced bu2 here because it precedes another fourth toned word "shi4") shi4 lao3shi5, wo3 shi4 xue2sheng5. ni3 ne5?
A: Wo3 (“wo" is pronounced wo2 here because it precedes another third toned word "ye3") ye3 shi4 xue2sheng5
English Translation:
A: Mr. Wang, are you a teacher?
B: I am not a teacher, I am a student. And you?
A: I am also a student.
Chinese Vocabulary
你 - ni3 - you
好 - hao3 - -adjective - good
你好 - ni2hao3 - hello (note that two consecutive 3rd tones changes the first 3rd tone into a 2nd tone)
请 - qing3 - verb - please
问 - wen4 - verb - to ask (a question)
请问 - excuse me; may I ask
贵 - gui4 - adjective - honorable; expensive
姓 - xing4 - surname
贵姓 - gui4xing4 - when asking for someone's surname, you say this because it's polite, however, when you respond, you omit the gui4 and just reply with "我姓surname"
呢 - ne5 - question particle
小姐 - xiao3jie3 -> xiao2jie3 - miss; young lady
叫 - jiao4 - to be called; to call
什么 - shen2me5 - what
名字 - ming2zi5 - name
先生 - xian1sheng5 - mr.
李 - Li3 - surname
王 - Wang2 - surname
