so did Chelsey Ng just start as a bar lady and then get bumped up to cast member/woman in bar?
Well, I’m not sure I agree with the “just” a bar lady characterization, but yes–she began as one of the Manderladies and has now become a cast member. Although it’s not common, she is not the first cast member to do this. Mallory Gracenin also took a similar path if I remember correctly.
And it should also be noted, auditions were involved. Even people already in the building are not just automatically promoted to a more involved role. It takes work. (And having some specific quality that the casting folk are looking for. I’ve known some spectacularly talented and hard-working people who have auditioned for SNM multiple times and not been cast.)
