Resurgery of Malaligned Mandibular Fracture with Total Asymmetry This gentleman had been involved in a road traffic accident and had suffered a fracture of the mandible. He had been operated at a multispecialty hospital with the fracture fixed in a malaligned position. There was nonhealing and pseudojoint formation at the fracture site with total asymmetry of the face. He had constant pain, which caused difficulty with eating and speech. There was also complete malocclusion of his dentition. Upon presentation at a local dental clinic, he had been subsequently referred to our hospital for corrective surgery. The old plates and screws were removed from the fracture site. Bone grafts harvested from the patient were used to augment the bony defects at the fracture site. The fracture was then stabilized with plates and screws after ensuring proper occlusion. This cat got braces, a wire also goes around the jaw. The TMJ was also broken. The right eye was removed. If you look closely there is a step in the upper jaw from an impaction fracture pushing the right canine tooth inward compared to the upper left. He is also wearing a tape muzzle which cats like to remove so it is replaceable no problem. He almost had acrylic to fix the canine teeth to ecg other but seems to have escaped that since he started eating and keeping his alignment. #petsurg #sandiego #cat #fracture #mandiblefracture (at PETSURG)
