referring to my tags on this post. also keep in mind that I wasn't in the fandom yet so this is a broad overview and might contain some errors. anyone feel free to add on to this!

I'll let you do your own research about nortrell/mando on their own because they are truly obsessed with each other even without getting girlfriends into the mix.

first of all I recommend this fantastic post summarising the beginning of 2022 because this is where you'll find most of the moments that keep me awake at night.

the most important and damning one for me is when they went on vacation in dubai with a few friends and lando, luisa & max shared a hotel suite... this lead to the infamous breakfast for three moment where max & luisa were just?? watching lando work out while eating pancakes??? and luisa just posted it to instagram.... this is my roman empire for real.

keep in mind this is right after lando moved to monaco, so he and max had stopped living together. but they spent like every possible minute together, with max flying to monaco multiple times or lando going to the uk for mclaren and taking a detour to play golf with max.

lando max and luisa went on multiple golf dates together. they watched movies together. there's also an instance of max and luisa sharing glasses??

luisa also once posted a pic on her story of her and lando in matching clothes, and then one of lando and MAX in matching clothes where she wrote "Matchy part 2"... like idk what to say at this point??

and there's also this cute moment during a race where luisa was biting her nails and max tugged on her hand so she would stop. idk it doesn't have to mean anything romantic necessarily but it's cute and intimate regardless.

there's also this landolog video where the three of them are modelling for a quadrant collection and it's just adorable all around. it's canon that luisa taught them BOTH some portuguese words, especially the one for "kisses"?!

these are the moments I think about the most. like obviously this doesn't necessarily mean anything but I do like to indulge into the throuple idea.. there are also some truly great fics about the three of them out there 👀

regardless, I think it's cute that luisa and max seemed also close to each other and that luisa didn't mind max spending so much time with her and lando. we'll probably never know what really went down but their (the three of them) friendship was still very precious and I'm a bit sad that it ended. ah but we'll always have the memories...

PLEASE!!!!! No you're right we need to discuss the repercussions of "BABY SLOTHS ARE ADDICTED TO CUDDLING" AND THESE PICS. Do you think they collapsed in a puppy pile after they got home and Lando pulled Max, Lu AND the two giant sloths to him so that he can get even warmer??????

“He looks at you a lot, you know,” Luisa says, her voice low, like she’s telling a secret.

Max knows he should turn around and go back to where his gaming stuff is set up in Lando’s living room for the fifth (no, sixth) weekend in a row, but he can’t make himself move from where he’s hovering outside the door. He knows without having to hear that she’s talking about him. He had wondered when she would bring it up; his glances at Lando that linger too long; how he couldn't stop himself. Anyone else would have brought it up earlier, any other girlfriend would have questioned the best friend hanger-on that always seemed to be around.

Lando makes a hesitant noise of encouragement for her to continue. Max can almost see the exact expression on his face - petulance, at not knowing something someone else knows, and questioning, even though Max knows what Luisa means, even though he’s known for a long time that Lando doesn’t.

“Max,” Luisa continues, and Max closes his eyes for a second at how much he enjoys hearing his name come from her mouth.

“What about Max?” Lando says, and his tone is something Max can’t place. It’s an unfamiliar feeling - not knowing what Lando is thinking in a particular moment.

“He looks at you like you look at him,” Luisa says, and Max’s heart rises to sit firmly in his throat.

“What way do I look at him.” It’s not a question really. It’s like he’s asking for confirmation of something Max is realising he was wrong about - that he really has known, for a while.

“Baby, it’s okay,” Luisa murmurs, comforting, and Max has to turn around, he has to get himself out of earshot - can’t bring himself to hear what he’s known would happen all along, that Lando would choose Luisa over him. He can’t, could never, hate Lando for it, but it will still hurt. More than anything that’s happened in his life it would hurt.

Luisa takes a deep breath and it’s loud in the otherwise silent room.

“It is okay, of course, because I think that I look at him like that, too,” she says, and Max startles. That’s … not at all what he thought she would say, couldn’t have dreamed it up himself.

“Luisa,” Lando says, and sits up, or at least it sounds like he does, “don’t joke about it.”

“I’m not,” she says, and sounds solid and certain in her reply. Honest.

Max has to turn around - he wasn’t meant to hear any of this conversation, and his heart has come higher to sit in his mouth. He wonders how he hadn’t seen how she looks at him. In all the times he’s been sat next to Lando, and looked at her from where she’s sitting, beautiful, always, across from them, she’s been looking over fondly. He thought it was at Lando. It would make sense. But maybe… she’s been looking back at him, too.
