We're in between two clothes lines and it's like being hidden away in a fabric world with wet clothes and blankets for walls. He's beaming as he grasps at me, fumbling for some combination of a tickle and a grapple. I should continue to fight him off, but I'm in his arms and the breeze is delicious and the sun is warm, so instead I kiss him, hard and firm. I miss his mouth and land on a dimple but I correct it, sucking on his bottom lip for a moment, then letting go. The current that runs through me prickles my skin and catches my breath, but at least I saw it coming. Peeta can only blink at me, dazed by the unexpected heat of what I just did, with a slack jawed expression that makes me laugh. I think I like effecting him like that, kissing him stupid. I do it one more time, softer than before, a gentle brush of my lips over his just to see if there's a difference. He leans into me this time, gripping my waist with both hands and savoring whatever I give him.
Happy Birthday to the incredible @mandrake-mistakes! I've been thinking about this scene from Uncross Our Stars a lot since I first read it, so I just had to draw it :D If you're not reading Uncross what are you doing?
