3am ramblings: what the fuck happened to MangaKamen?

Every. Single. Video I see of him now is always complaining. No matter what he's talking about, the title is about how something's wrong with it. Even if he has positive things to say about it like the TADC finale he's always focusing on the negative, and I keep hoping he'll stop and I can watch his stuff again but I just don't think that's ever happening. He's either stuck in the Youtube of 10-15 years ago when negativity was the only valid form of critique or he just doesn't know how to script and structure videos to where he can balance out his dislikes properly by going over the things that he does like, which are usually there but are always sidelined by the negatives. You're not the Nostalgia Critic dude, if you find this much fault in every piece of media you consume you need to re-think your life.

I’ve noticed that MangaKamen seems like he’s running out of ideas at this point. He recently made a video that feels 10–20 years too late. Most fans already understand that Misawa was mishandled because of the plots and the second half of Season 1 , so it’s not exactly a new or groundbreaking topic.

What bothers me more is the clickbait. The videos often feel like they’re trying to stir up drama or rehash old debates, yet his audience keeps eating it up. I honestly don’t understand why some people treat him like he’s on the same level as major anime and manga commentators. To me, it feels like he’s repeating points that the community has already discussed for years.

I’ve talked about this guy before, and honestly, I don’t think he’s worth much attention. It feels like he spends so much time talking about “wasted potential” in other series and characters, yet his own channel feels like wasted potential to me.

Most of his content seems to revolve around the same complaints and recycled topics instead of bringing something fresh to the discussion. After a while, it starts to feel repetitive, and I don’t see why people treat every video like it’s some major revelation.

@HeyKaiowutt99, This content is trash. This is the kind of slop you keep feeding your audience, and I don't understand why people keep hyping it up. But you won't do a thing because you can't upset people. You'll keep playing it safe instead of actually responding to the criticism.

Andrealphus' plan would've made a little more sense if it was clearly established in previous episodes that Stolas does nothing but watch tv all the time like the waste of space he is.

And I'm not entirely sure if it was stated in the episode or if the fans came up with this explanation to justify the nonsense (only watched "Mastermind" once,so I don't remember),but was Andre's plan really meant to depend on Stolas watching the news at that exact time? Because if that's the case...man,they dumbed him down so much after his debut! Bro became so stupid he couldn't even directly accuse that creator pet! (But I will give him a point for trying because is still not as dumb as Stolass claiming he put a hit on himself)

Andrealphus’ plan is dog water. It’s relying on chance and plot convenience such as Stolas to watch the current news. Like what if Stolas doing something productive with his time then what Andrealphus? He would’ve killed an innocent person (not like Satan cares). Manga Kamen’s video about Andrealphus’ plan does a good job going into depth of how stupid it was.

Why do you dislike MangaKamen so much and why?

This picture of Homer Simpsons getting punched is one example of my hate for that doucebag.

He is pathetic!

He is clearly delusional. Nothing about him stands out, and he reminds me why he should have existed 10 years ago, so I don't care about Americans like him. He’s clearly obsessed with things I heavily dislike. He’s a mainstream consumer, by the way. He talks about morally gray characters, literacy, tokusatsu, and mostly Yu-Gi-Oh! videos. But here’s the catch: his Yu-Gi-Oh! videos show how unaware and clueless he is. He claims Seto Kaiba is great but mocks Jack Atlas. His recent videos are just about Gen 1 Yu-Gi-Oh! games on Duel Monsters.

He never talks negatively about his fans or tries to be constructive. He goes on and on about the amazing digital circus being different, but that show is still ongoing and doesn’t need to be analyzed so much. I guess he’s just too caught up in his own ego. Sometimes, he comes off as pretty stupid in his videos.

What I hate the most about him is how he keeps milking that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance nonsense while mocking 5D's and calling it weak. Let me tell you something: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is just a staple for Americans to enjoy mindless hours of video games rather than being engaged with real content. The game isn't great, and its story is shallow.

Not gonna name any names, but I really feel like a lot of times these days, when it comes to people who make content online that involves reviewing a piece of media, they really don't know anymore how to make an unbiased critique of said media..... Yes, I am once again talking about some people who criticize Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, but I am able to tell the difference when someone is giving a genuine well worded critique of either show, versus people who let their bias show the entire time without giving any actual criticism about how either shows could be improved. It really annoys me too when it's a video on YouTube or Tiktok, and I end up clicking away from the video because the person who uploaded it is just talking in a really angry tone the entire time, because like...... dude, you're allowed to point out flaws you see, but why are you getting so mad about it? By letting everyone hear how much something in a show you're trying to critique pissed you off, you're making it harder to get your point across and make a constructive argument, and therefore making it hard for others to take you seriously as a critic.

It's not just Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss critics that made me want to talk about this though. Just yesterday my YouTube feed recommended me a video someone made reviewing an episode of the 2012 TMNT show..... and I clicked away after about 2 minutes for 2 reasons; one being that when April complained about how tired she was from ninja jumping across roofs with the turtles so much, the person who uploaded the video spent said 2 minutes just ranting about how she took dance classes and how rough they are and how April wouldn't survive them....... something which has NOTHING to do with you reviewing a TMNT episode. Like, it's one thing if you're making a comedic roast about April, but you're making a review about a TMNT episode, why do we need to know about your experience with dance classes? This is TMNT, not Angelina Ballerina. That, and after those 2 minutes, I just knew the whole video was gonna be that person just hating on April for 10 whole minutes. Look, I don't really like 2012 April either, but do we really need 10 whole minutes of someone just hating on her for a video? Those are 10 minutes that could have been spent making or doing something else, instead of expressing an unhealthy hatred for a fictional character.

I have a feeling the person who made said TMNT video is really young, and one person in general that I came across on YouTube that makes Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel "critique" videos is about 18, and they also spend a lot of their time just talking about how much parts of the show piss them off..... and I have to know, are schools just not teaching kids how to make constructive arguments without showing their bias anymore, or do they just not care?

Honestly, if you want to watch genuinely good review content, just watch MangaKamen and uricksaladbar on YouTube. Both are way better at making constructive criticism towards the content they review, and they actually make you think about how stories can be improved and made good, instead of just raging about their problems the entire time.
