OMG you lived thru a real WIU tornado attack plan? What actually happens? all i had was a hilarious idea of fuck all you upper floor shits, im hiding in the bathroom cuz i was here first
okay so like, first off, the fire alarm is tied into the tornado alarm (we have a tornado alarm apparently). and when the warning was issued, the fire alarm went off. but it was a slightly different sound (more like a tornado siren) and the robotic voice said there was a tornado warning. and everyone on the floor had to go to the bathroom. some people were pissed that they couldn’t wait in the floor lounge but jfc there are huge-ass windows in the lounge would you rather be dead or slightly uncomfortable
but the alarm didn’t go off when the warning was issued. I heard shouting in the hall and got out of bed, checked my phone, saw a notification that a warning had been issued, and then grabbed a few things and went to the bathroom. a little while after I had taken shelter in the bathroom with some other people, the alarms started going off. no one knew why the sirens didn’t go off right away. and the sirens not going off pissed me bc someone in my hometown died a while back bc the sirens didn’t go off. but here they did eventually so there’s that.
and it wasn’t that bad. we in there for like. half an hour. tops. and it got kinda crowded, but only a handful of people in the bathroom were from a different floor. also, the complex director made an announcement that people were not supposed to go to the first or second floors or the lounges. they had to go to the bathroom.
anyways. after the warning had expired and the sirens sounded the all clear, we still had to wait until the complex director gave us her all clear before we could leave the bathroom, which is still. a strange thing to me.
but yeah. I actually had a real tornado emergency here at school. it would have been more interesting if it hadn’t been so damn late.
also someone didn’t know the difference between a tornado watch and warning and one person was freaking out bc they could hear the wind. I told them that if it was an actual tornado, they’d know.
