Manifesto for what a game is, a discussion I made as part of my game narrative paper.

Manifesto

To describe myself as a reader would take a very large pot of coffee on my end.

I find that I approach books the way I approach life. That is, I have to be really fucking excited to read a book to the point where I neglect basic things like eating and using the toilet. In life I find it hard to get motivated about things, and if I do finally get the motivation I fall flat on my face because I loose momentum. It’s not the best approach, but hey, I manage to make it work.

I’m the kind of person that will make a direct path to the classics in a bookstore, fawn over the sought after ones for my collection and inevitably end up in YA or Literary Fiction with relatively boring books in my arms because thats what I like. & whats the point if you’re reading things you don’t like. Right?

I start a book and if it doesn’t interest me I stop. And I find excuses not to finish it. Which is terrible I know, and many times I’ve revisited said books and thoroughly enjoyed them! But I’ve read some reading manifestos recently, where bloggers outline their challenges and goals. & I’m just here like I’m trying to get through this one book for months. Sometimes I’ll read a book in day others i’ll take two years to finish one! Props to you guys who can read books you love and hate at such a pace!
