More thoughts on books. I've been reading the Love History Caused by Willful Negligence novel on Manta and am currently on vol 6. I think post vol 4, it is technically a new novel called Love History Caused by Deliberate Design?
Either way, it is a continuation of Wooyeon and Inseob's story post their happy (more like hopeful) ending in vol 4.
I am not sure what I expected. I think maybe I thought the author would glaze Wooyeon a bit, chill him out and make him less toxic (which is what tends to happen in side stories with similar characters in manhwa), but yeah. They did not do that at all 😂
It is so interesting, because Wooyeon is absolutely toxic and remains toxic with no sign that he will ever be anything else. Inseob also had his own problems. He's severely codependent, and is obsessive in his own way. They both desperately need psychological help 😂
This of course makes the whole relationship toxic. It feels impossible that it could ever be anything else.
At the the same time, it is clear that Wooyeon does truly care for/love Inseob, or at least what passes for love to someone with antisocial personality disorder who, for the most part, lacks empathy and also seems to have strong psychopathic tendencies (just to be clear, not everyone with ASP has this).
His inner thoughts and feelings when it comes to Inseob are so disturbing at times. His desires and motivations are just as disturbing. But then he'll hold back on his worst impulses because he truly does not want to hurt Inseob.
Anyways, I am not sure what my point is, other than that their relationship remains toxic, but somehow I still root for them...even though Inseob 100% would be better off free of Wooyeon 😂 (itsmy guilty pleasure read, ig lol). I honestly cannot imagine a true happy ending for them, but I think that's ok. It would feel dishonest of the author to give them that.
