Had this dish again exactly a month after first trying it in December 2019. Duck fell off the bone and was deliciously tender. Loved the crunchy pickled red cabbage. Miso sauce wasn’t as sweet as the first time I tried it which is good. :)
Brought friends visiting from Brunei (haven’t seen my friend in 14 years!), Bali and Sydney here this time and they all loved it - @manukawoodfirekitchen is such a gem of a place. Glad they’re back open now!

Tiger prawns, baby potatoes, leeks, smoked chilli butter; aud32 from Manuka Woodfire Kitchen, Fremantle. Menu on @perthfoodmenu This dish was so fragrant when it arrived on the table. Loved how the prawns (5 prawns) were not too charred or burnt. Sufficiently fresh prawns (by Perth’s standards). The smoked chilli butter sauce with capers was amazing - so good that I took it away and used it for a stir-fry with noodles at home. There wasn’t much baby potatoes and we ordered the roasted royal blue potatoes, garlic, rosemary, sour cream dish (aud12). The potatoes were really crispy and served hot. Rottnest island scallops, pickled cucumber, red pepper mayo; aud8 each from Manuka Woodfire Kitchen, Fremantle. Love the pickled cucumber though felt there was too much mayo which overpowered the sweetness of the scallop. This was the least impressive dish (not because it wasn’t good but because all the other dishes were so good - comparatively, this was least value-for-money as the size of the scallops were quite small). In hindsight, for the same amount of money of four scallops ($32), ordering the Dorper lamb would have been more worth it. Menu on @perthfoodmenu We were recommended to order two serves of the flatbread and initially wondered quietly if it might be too much. So glad we trusted our friendly server’s judgement without questions - this fluffy and soft flatbread alone is enough to warrant a visit here. Dipped with the eggplant babaganoush - we wiped up everything cleanly. LEGIT SO GOOD. Taken me far too long to check out Manuka Woodfire Kitchen ever since having their chicken years ago at ‘Taste of Perth’. Do yourself a favour and check them out - there’s definitely a reason why these guys took out # 4 on the list of WA’s top restaurants in 2019 compiled by WA Good Food Guide - incredible food and such kind, friendly service housed within a cosy character building on High Street, Fremantle.
