Personality: Almandine is quiet, serious and usually no-nonsense. She doesn’t talk much, unless she’s super excited about something, and it’s usually the silliest of things. Cupcakes with cute frosting, Absolute perfect symmetry. Those sorts of things. Then she gets all chatty and happy. Right until she moves outside of the area these things happen to be in. Then she returns to her normal self, quiet and serious.

Description: Almandine is petite, adorable even. Sometimes she’s mistaken for a teen filly rather than a full grown mare. A light Pink mane with red highlights matches her mid-length tail makes her look a little like a punk rocker. It goes well with her light blue coat.. She has cute little fangs, cute little horns and, in her pony form, cute little glasses. However, her magical reserves are enormous. because of this, she rarely uses magic. Using too much makes her hangry, and almost homicidal in her hunger. Being mistaken as a filly irritates her, usually leading to nuclear levels of blunt sass that would make Celestia cringe.

Mission: Allie escaped of her own volition, but it took a lot of magical power to do so. It was then that she found her... hunger pangs... were much more severe. So now she just tries to carve out a living in Equestria, trying to find a job she can keep down.

Is the clan spiritual and highly loyal to their deity? Are they indifferent?

Yes, and no. The Reach owes our continued existence to the intervention of the Windsinger in the land. We know that, even if he’s never spoken or appeared to us. However we tend to worship the land, more than the god. He has our loyalty because of his gift of our home; we show our appreciation for that by celebrating the Reach herself, and the steppes. But the Temple is still dedicated to the Windsinger, and his altar is treated with the utmost reverence.

Was the leader chosen? Were they elected? An heir to the throne? Or maybe they achieved something within the clan?

Does your clan have a council? An elected group of dragons in power?

Adecia is clan leader because she founded the Reach; Radec’s position, similarly, is due more to experience and his status as a founder than because he’s Adecia’s mate. Dragons within the clan bring their concerns to their leaders, who in turn take them to the Council.

Council members, the real leaders of the clan as a whole, are appointed, according to our charter, “in the manner of their own people.” Longnecks vote, the Serthii have their own hierarchical system, etc.

Who does the gathering in the clan? (digging, scavenging, hunting, etc.)

Everyone who’s able, to the best of their individual ability! Dragons are in charge of gathering, though.

Does your clan have a cook? Who handles the food?

Not at the moment; with the Reach growing, Adecia and other Council members are starting to think about revamping our infrastructure for things like this. Traditionally Radec’s been in charge of allocating the food his hunter-gatherers come up with, and everyone prepares that food however they prefer.

Do you have any familiars that are intelligent enough to directly interact with the dragons?

All of my ‘canon’ familiars, except for Weathertop’s pet psywurm Dameon, are Beastclan. So…yup!

Does your clan specialize in anything?

Not unless ‘subsistence farming’ counts. Beastclan relations, maybe?

Does your clan have a territory? Or just the lair?

Our territory consists of two cliff faces; the main Reach ravine, and the cliff face on the drop to the level of steppe below ours. It covers the farmland on the level of the steppe overlooked by the main lair, in a swatch a mile on either side of the valley; also, the unfarmed grassland directly above the lair for half a mile at which point it becomes neutral, and then harpy territory; and half a mile of buffer land on the steppe below the Lower Face.

Are there any dragons in your clan who dislike hatchlings?

There’s plenty who are somewhat less than comfortable with children; Procyon, Etna, Astikan, Syrah, Mawdryn and Zeta, even Pride to a degree. Not everyone has to be totally comfortable with young hatchlings, but all the dragons of the Reach are willing to teach, care for and protect the children of the clan if called upon to do so.

What markers does your clan use to let others know they live in the area? Flags? Banners? Runes?

The magical signature of the earth itself marks our territory–as it does everyone’s, if you’re willing to listen to the earth–as claimed. Just so there’s no miscommunications, however, we do have Longneck pole markers on our borders.

Does each dragon in your lair have their own space, or is the entire lair shared?

Individuals, mates, and/or families will have their own dens branching off runs from the surface or the main open area. Actually, Adecia and Radec are the only exception–the entrance hall is where they live and sleep.

Choose a dragon with a familiar and talk about their relationship.

Radec and the Serthis leader Shirala are incredibly close friends. In a way their friendship is even more noteworthy than Adecia and Jori’s, for all that theirs was the bond that forged the Reach as we know it today; Jori is Adecia’s Charge, they never had any choice but to love one another. Radec and Shirala’s friendship was forged through nothing but fighting side by side, a sense of duty crossed with a sense of humor, and genuine mutual respect for one another’s devotion to a cause. He’ll often go down to the Serthis pond to lie in the shade and talk to her about life.
