Katolis Castle Keep
I just wanted to get this image really quick for later map reference.
Katolis Castle is actually a really, really well-defended location. On an island, surrounded by a moat, only one bridge in or out. Not just one but two sets of walls. We can see they've got the main courtyard where Soren and Callum are shown training, but we've also got a really big garden between the inner and outer walls. There's also plenty of outcroppings where you can see what must be different craftspeople and laborers, where they elive and work. There's also the square out by the bridge with the Fancy Courtyard, which is smaller, but also much more heavily walled in. The vantage point there is much higher and more defensible than the stairs in the main courtyard further inside the Keep. It's just really neat construction and I appreciate that the artist kept in mind that a medieval Keep like this would likely have almost, if not all, of the basic crafts and production needed for a fully functioning town within the walls. Part of its purpose would be to have a place where the surrounding settlement could retreat for safety in case of a siege, after all, and while Katolis Keep is probably a little small for that, it likely wasn't at the time it was built.
