With a graceful yet deadly twirl, Mika’s blade spun out at such a speed that Yuu didn’t even see it slice Kimizuki’s shoulder. He only knew Kimizuki had been cut when vibrant blood splattered the ground and Kimizuki hissed with the stinging pain. Spinning around him, Mika’s cape cut through the air like a scarlet scythe.

Using the weakness to his advantage, Mika charged forward, causing Kimizuki to gasp and fall backwards. His injured side slammed against the gravel, making him to cry out in anguish. Mika kicked his sword away, successfully having Kimizuki pinned beneath him. Kimizuki’s eyes widened, likely seeing a wicked image of a murderous man arching tall above him, eyes glinting with a fiendish, almost maleficent glow. The ends of his whitish blond hair shone with chilling silvery moonlight, casting a dismal, gruesome shadow over his masked face.

You’re one of my closest online friends for sure. You’re just... super lovely and talented. Seriously like, our first video call was you crying over some issues and honestly, that might have been embarrassing to you, but it was meaningful to me! It was that first step of “hey, I trust you with my feelings and I want to open up to you” sort of thing... and I mean, I’ve called you while crying over some shit too so :’)

Besides emotional stuff, I just love to talk with you. We always laugh over stupid things we say, embarrass each other through skype statuses and tweets, and we’ve bonded even more since writing Hiiragi Cirque Ave. Freakshow together! I’m so glad you and your friend thought of that idea together, and thinking up ideas and planning our collaboration piece was so much fun. And then wow, the reception we’ve got! All of the comments, the late-night twitter chats, the fanart... it’s incredible. I’m proud of the story and I hope you are too, it holds a special place in my heart, as I’m sure it holds a special place in yours.

So, I asked around the MikaYuu fandom at some of my talented friends (besides you of course, because this is for you after all, as a surprise), and Maqui was more than willing to draw something as a gift to you through a commission. We talked about a couple different scenes and decided on this one, and oh lord, I had to contain my excitement from you every time she sent me WIP’s of this comic. Seriously I had to go scream at Nia or someone (which, special shoutout to my other best friends for dealing with my nonsensical keyboard smashing for this gift) just so I didn’t spoil the surprise for you.

Anyways, I’ll quit blabbering now, but I just hope your birthday is worthwhile. I hope that, if nothing else, this art makes you smile and remember the fun times we’ve had so far and our child that is our collaboration fic.
