Do me a favor. If you see any young hunters asking around for me, tell them to keep driving. Take the scenic route and don’t bother messing around in Chicago. Go to New York and eat terrible hot dogs or go back to LA and breathe in that smog.
Just stay the hell away from me and my brother.
Because you know what they wanna talk about? They wanna talk about me running and chasing after shit. They wanna talk about me aiming and firing a shot gun with accuracy and speed. They wanna talk about me being possessed, used, beaten, and betrayed.
They never wanna talk about my cane.
They don’t wanna talk about my Sunday mornings going for paletas and elotes and whining at Sam that of course we need more paletas and elotes. They don’t wanna hear about how the museum is free for everyone, my favorite grade to walk around it are fifth graders because they’re old enough to pay attention and young enough to laugh at my jokes. They don’t wanna hear about how I fixed Mrs. Martinez’s car last week or how the best thing at the end of the day is a heating pad and catching up with podcasts.
They don’t wanna hear, talk, or listen about how Sam is more than Sam.
And I don’t wanna share that.
I’m done sharing that with hunters. You’d think they get it, but they don’t.
They only wanna see me as who I was. Not who I am now. Who I am now isn’t chasing after shit, firing shot guns, or beating up bad guys.
And I don’t need to be judged for that shit.
And I don’t need to relive my past to anyone who gives fuck all about my present.
You tell them they can back off and find someone else to glorify.
