I'm making this #marantaceaemonday as this Calathea makoyana or peacock plant was so beautiful today. Look at that unfurling leaf. This arrived from @costafarms during #nationalindoorplantweek and it already has new growth. A Maranta leuconeura that I picked up whilst on book tour in Seattle. I could commonly get this species here in New York, but I loved the growth form of this one, slightly askew and prolific on one side. The species name "leuconeura" means "with white veins".
