Aqua looks up at the night sky. Stars shimmer over head, but the last light of twilight still lingers on the edge of the horizon. The evening breeze is warm as she follows the path towards the training grounds. There she'll find a small pond to one side, dotted with water lilies, and likely her student sitting beside it. The student is often found at this spot when she's thinking, and she has a lot to think about tonight.
As the blue-haired keyblade master approaches the pond, she does indeed spot her young student. Sitting by the water with her back to her approaching master. The student is a female, around 23 years old, and of a species know as "Mayethian". This gives her the distinguishing characteristics of having the ears and tail of a wolf. On this girl specifically the ears are the same chocolate brown as her exceptionally long hair. Her tail is this color as well, but it also has a streak of silver running all the way down the top.
One of the girl’s ears soon tips back as the sound of the other's foot steps hit it, and she half-turns to look over her shoulder. The slightly startled look she had first worn, instantly changes to a more friendly expression when she realizes who it is.
"Master Aqua."
"Hello, Maranwe." The master greets warmly, taking a seat in the grass next to her student. "Lovely evening."
"Yes it is.” Maranwe pauses, trying to think of why her teacher would be out at this hour. “Am I late for something...?" She wouldn’t be surprised if she was.
"No, I just thought I'd come and see how you're doing.” She takes a momentary pause before asking “Are you nervous?"
Maranwe takes a breath, as if to answer on instinct, but says nothing for a moment. "...Should I not be?"
There's a short pause as Aqua looks into the water, a soft current just barely disturbing the reflection of her student's uncertain face. "I wouldn't have recommended you if I didn't think you were ready."
Maranwe looks up at her master for a moment, unintentionally searching her heart with her Mayethian empathic sense to see if that's really how she felt. That takes only a couple of seconds and Maranwe returns her gaze to water's surface, and the stars reflected there. "I’m just- " She pauses, trying to choose her words with care. “I guess I’m.. still not sure I’m right for this...”
