🥀 - rose petal trail for Kaylen maybe?
Valentine’s Day Prompts
He’d spent all evening gathering the petals–and it was a lot of petals! They started right at the bottom of the stairs where his office was, which meant Aylen would have to follow the entire trail up all those flights of stairs. And then they ended at a bed covered in them, with a proper bouquet laying atop the pillows.
There were candles lighting up the room, though it was only a few to keep the atmosphere correct. It wasn’t just about the bed, though. Kaaras had managed to make his desk a clean and tidy table for them to eat at. He couldn’t haul a table up all the stairs–well, he could, it would just be awkward. On the centre of the table, there was dinner. Despite the atmosphere, it was none of that fancy restaurant food, it was a hearty meal that would fill the both of them, and then dessert was sitting to the side. Strawberries, chocolates, candied nuts (because he knew Aylen couldn’t resist those).
Now, all he had to do was wait. He knew her schedule, or at least if she had one--unlike him, Aylen wasn’t as much of a creature of habit, so there was some guessing that needed to go on there. But around about now was when she was usually returning to her room, plus, the food was kept under a cloche so it wasn’t going to get cold.
Of course, the moment Aylen had opened the door to the office downstairs, she’d seen the petals that trails up. What was her cheeky and silly husband doing this time? Her ears perked up a little before she decided to follow the flowery trail, knowing there was a surprise for her at the end of it.
Opening the door, she made her way up those last few steps a little cautiously, but the eagerness certainly making her heart pound. They were married now, so she didn’t know why she still felt like this was their first date.
“Vhenan?” Her voice was small, still shy when it came to such romantic gestures. She could smell the food, though, which had her pace quickening as she rounded the top to see the bed layered out in roses and the desk with dinner. There was Kaaras, standing by the fireplace. She felt her cheeks blush just a little. All of this? For her?
“Kadan,” Kaaras smiled at finally seeing her. “I thought we could have a romantic dinner away from everyone. Just you and I.” He made his way over with one of the roses in his hand, lifting it to carefully trail it down her nose and chin.
Aylen giggled at the tickling sensation. Gods, her husband was a dork, and she loved every bit of it!
“Our first special day as husband and wife,” she gleamed, taking the rose that was offered to her. She pressed it to her nose so she could smell the faint perfume of it.
Kaaras laughed. “Every day is special with you as my wife, Aylen.” That had her dark skin blushing, and he could see it in the way her ears lowered and her eyes averted from him momentarily. Maker, that blush was the sweetest thing.
Taking her hands into his, he picked up the rose she had between his teeth, fangs showing. “Now, let’s have some dinner before I make endless love to you,” he purred, rubbing his nose against hers.
Aylen’s laugh bubbled out from her chest. She reached up and stole the rose back from him, thankful the thorns had been cut. He’d clearly spent a lot of time on all of this, and she cherished every bit of it, but by the Gods, he was so silly.
“I can’t wait,” she beamed, pulling him back down to steal a quick kiss from him before they settled in for their dinner.
