IT’S A MATCH!
Haeju blinks a few times and stares at his phone screen for a moment just to make sure he’s seeing it right. It’s not often that he gets a match, even though he’s been swiping so many pictures right — which only makes his self-esteem get lower and lower along the time. But he just ignores the lack of activity of his account. The few people he has talked to left him on read eventually and he is already used to that, doesn’t bother him anymore. And sometimes, Haeju does feel unmotivated and thinks about giving up on his attempt of finding some company, of getting some attention that is not just people being sorry for him. But maybe, just maybe, this one time will be different. He forces his mind to think that way.
He hesitates at first but taps the “send a message” button anyways, taking a deep breath when he starts typing his message. He types something, erases it and retypes something different for a couples minutes, not confident enough to finally hit the “send” button.
Haeju feels nervous, he always does whenever he has a match with someone as good looking as the other boy because wow, he is handsome. He remembers going through the other’s profile and being completely mesmerized by the boy’s beauty — and well, should we mention that he is the very first boy that Haeju ever got a match with? It only makes him feel more nervous about the situation. But Haeju knows he has to be brave, or else he’ll be alone for the rest of his life. He’s not exactly looking for a relationship, not exactly seeking commitment, but having someone to trust, to lean on and to keep him some company when the both of them want it would be great for him.
He’s been lonely for too long.
↶ hey devon! how you doing?
And he finally presses “send”. Haeju has never regretted typing a message so much in his life, he sounds so dumb and he already sees himself being rejected. Again. But he deeply hopes it won’t happen again this time. He really does.
