In 1900-01, the season's only performance of La Traviata starred Nellie Melba. After she left the company, Marcella Sembrich succeeded to the part, which she had first sung at the house nearly two decades earlier, during its opening season; she gave one performance in 1901-02, four in 1902-03 (three of them prior to the first of the year). Mapleson captured souvenirs of both these Violettas.

On March 11, 1851 in Venice the opera “Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi premiered.

In November 1883, in the first year of The Metropolitan Opera, the first of 900 performances to date took place in this house. Here is the evening list of the second performance on 30 November 1883 with Giuseppe Del Puente as Rigoletto and Marcella Sembrich as Gilda.

March 6. 1853 the Verdi Opera „La Traviata” premiered in Teatro La Fenice. Here we see the original castlist from the first performances at The Metropolitan Opera 1883 short after the opening of the MET in the same year.

Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935) was the first Violetta in this Opera House. Until today this opera was played in 1051 performances with the MET Company.

On October 29, 1787 the opera "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart have his first Performance in Prague National Theatre. This original evening note from November 28, 1883, shows the first performance of this opera at The Metropolitan Opera in New York. This was the very first season of the MET.

Walter Kaschmann sang the title role and the two famous singers Christina Nilsson and Marcella Sembrich sung first time together in this Operahouse.
