When: 30th March 1980 Where: The Great Hall Who: @notbenjyfenwick
Dawn had been a bundle of nerves all morning. She knew the lists were to be released that day and she was waiting for her owl from the Harpies, the one that would change her future. She was trying to get through her day like a normal day, and was sitting in the great hall having some breakfast when the owls arrived, dropping newspapers all around them. She saw the words dancing across the front page, and snatched one up from the first year sitting across from her. She flipped through quickly until she landed on the page with the Harpie’s list.
There was no owl, because she hadn’t made it. She’d failed.
Just as quickly as she had snatched up the paper was she dropping it again, swiftly standing, picking up her bag and breakfast to go, and hurrying from the Great Hall.
When: 10th March 1980 Where: Percy’s flat Who: @grobards
Percy was lying on the floor of his flat next to Billie’s playmate, notes from that weeks classes discarded on the floor next to him. She was happy for him to stop studying of course, taking much enjoyment from her new game of throwing her toy away, just to make Percy pick it up. When he so for what felt like the tenth time, he tilted his head sideways to look at his daughter, “You’re lucky you can’t read yet.” Then he groaned, handing her the toy back before sitting up. “How much do we have left?”
When: 10th March 1980 Where: Franks Flat Who: @shafiqalice
Frank stared at the wall, head tilted. “Is that straight?”
When: 17th March 2026 Where: Some pub for St Patties day Who: Noah and Athena @nextgenkt
Noah realised he’d been rambling, and trailed off, clearing his throat. “Anyway, yeah. S’a really exciting discovery.”
When: 11th March 1980 Where: Hogsmeade Post Office Who: @skyehathaway
Rosalind hated a lot of things. High on that list, though, was being kept waiting. Which was what was happening now, when she was trying to send a package to one of her cousins via international owl. She bit back an irritated huff, instead asking the person in front of her. “How long have you been waiting?”
When: 20th March 1980 Where: Wolfstag Bday Bash Who: @notbenjyfenwick
Dawn was stuck in a conversation she didn’t want to be stuck in, and was looking for a way out. She’d come to this party to have fun, to get out of her own head, to see her friends. She’d come to this party to try get back some resemblance of normal. There wasn’t even anyone near by she could signal to get her out of this, until Benjy walked past. Taking a sip of her drink, she shot him a look that she sure hoped he’d understand.
When: 9th March 1980 Where: Hogsmeade Who: @notbenjyfenwick
Any and all excitement Dawn had been experiencing only fifteen minutes before this moment was gone. All the progress she’d made, the steps towards getting better, shattered. She had a feeling if she picked up a wand again, something would go wrong. She knew she wouldn’t do it. Not until she was safely back at an appointment at Mungo’s.
She wasn’t sure how she had managed to hold it together until she’d left Rod’s. When now she couldn’t hold anything in. Maybe it was the way his words froze her from the inside out, the horror as it dawned on her exactly that everything that had happened to her the last few months had been because of him. A carefully orchestrated plan to ruin her. And she’d walked right into it.
She probably couldn’t make herself any smaller, curling her arms around her knees and burying her face into them. The more sobs that left her body, the tighter her chest became. She felt like she was being suffocated, with no way out to safety.
