“If you think this is bad, you should’ve seen me after I watched Wizard of Oz.” He said it as though his tears were confined to the first time he saw it, and didn’t happen every single time he and Mary put it on. Surely a therapist would have a field day with these emotions. Though, in all honesty, they’d be more interested in his two friends who had no desire to express outward emotions at all. “Fine. Let’s go. Just so long as I’m not buying. I’ve paid a dear price with my tears tonight.”
.
“I’ll buy,” offered Hayden. He owed Doc more money than he cared to think about in that moment and could at least spare the extra for a couple of rounds. “Place round the corner? Looked cheap and dingy enough for my price range.” However, he didn’t wait for agreement, rather already standing up and heading towards the exit.
.
Percy too, followed after the pair without a word, happy to let Hayden at least buy the first round. Paying rent on a two-bedroom in the heart of London was taking more of his pay cheque than he thought, on top of all the baby sitting fees he paid. But he pushed that to the back of his mind. A pint would do him well.
