17. “Looks like we’ll be trapped for a while…”

“Benji, we’re on our way back to you. ETA two minutes. Can you get the outer door opened up ready for us?”

“What do you think I’ve been trying to do for the last t-”

“Benji!”

“Right, yes. I’m working on it.”

Ethan and Brandt ran through the building, having memorised the route in and out. They needed to, thanks to the time restraint on this mission. They never got the easy ones… At least, that’s how Brandt saw it anyway. As they closed in on their exit point, Ethan glanced at his watch, noticing the timer; they were almost out of time. If they did not get back to the door before the clock hit zero, the door would self-lock and they would be stuck. Benji had been working on overriding the system so that they could get out, but it was certainly not looking good right now.

As they reached the door, finding it still closed, Brandt cursed under his breath.

“Benji, the door!”

“I know Brandt! I’m bloody well trying!” Benji’s voice was strained and exasperated, evident that he was trying his hardest to open the door. But unfortunately, as Ethan’s watch hit zero, the loud CLANG of the locks could be heard and both men looked at each other.

“Well…” Ethan began as Brandt glared at him. ““like we’ll be trapped for a while…”
