Character positivity day: Marco Bodt

Words cannot describe how much I’ve come to love Marco’s character. His expressions throughout the 104th’s trainee days felt so real and were just such a great addition to his character. His interactions with Jean and Eren especially hit me in the gut. Marco is such a genuine friend to everyone and he does his best in every situation. Him sitting with Jean, telling him that he would make a good leader because he sucks.... priceless. Him shooting the shit with Eren after a long day of training... Beautiful. The rifle scene where he passes out... relatable.

 Eren’s and Jean’s flashbacks were a lot to handle. Both of them remembering Marco’s smiling face hurt, a lot. But even though it’s tragic and I would have loved to see Marco’s character developed more, I feel like Marco’s death was quite important. It brought a lot of light to the titan trio’s intentions. We wouldn’t have learned so much about Reiner in those thirty horrifying seconds otherwise. 

I am really sad that we don’t get to see him grow and mature with the rest of the 104th. He was in the top ten for a reason. He had great skill and was an important part of the story. He lives on in the fandom’s heart.
