Now, here is a funeral story which I strongly believe it is okay to laugh at, or at least smile. As part of the remembrance for our friend Marc Townsend, everyone wrote memory cards for his family, short heartfelt messages about Marc. Being the super-prepared responsible and upstanding man I am, I decided I didn’t want to rush this and I chose to wait until after the ceremony to fill out my card, after I decided on the most perfect thing to come out of my hands. Well, as it turned out, after rushing to offer condolences, say hello, and hear stories about Marc from all who attended after the ceremony was over, I realized I still hadn’t filled out my memory card, so I rushed to get it done. And, I got it done. Except, there was one small thing I noticed halfway as I hurriedly wrote on the card. When I showed it to my friend Mike Garvison, he burst into laughter as I did, because we could already hear Marc’s shrill voice in our heads. ‘Reep, you dumbass! You had one dumbass job! You dumbass water-hoarding slick-haired SoCal!’ Oh, just to hear Marc’s smack blasting from the sky like the thunder of an angry monsoon out in the Arizona highlands, just one more time. Anyway, if you want to see for yourself what I ended up writing and submitting to Marc’s family, slide over to the second picture. And, to Marc’s family, if you are reading this, please know that more than anything, Marc brought a lot of fun and smiles to my life and many others, and every ‘dumbass’ line from him is always remembered fondly. Here’s to you, Marc. #marctownsend #family #friends #fishing #memorycards (at CCV (Christ's Church of the Valley)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgN4CFJL9sv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
