Petr Yan takes UD over Marcus McGhee
A shame we didn't get 5 rounds of that one. Yan was only picking up steam as the fight went on. McGhee had a lot of success early on (as everyone does with Yan) landing power shots as he came in from range. Yan just does not have a range game beyond kicks to the lead leg and high guard. So as he is picking up info early, he's getting tagged. And hard a couple times. Great use of hand-fighting to really find a path for his strikes. But by round 2, Yan had basically figured him out. Attacked him as he exited exchanges, came forward looking for that knee, or tried to lock up and grab head control or to grab Yan's hands out the high guard. And as a result, he got countered. A lot. Nasty work from Yan working the body and finding a home for the 2 down the middle. Round 3 was mostly Yan bullying McGhee from the standing rear waist tie up. Attacking with knees to the hamstrings and occasionally stepping around to land to the head. Yan ended the fight by hitting a pretty ass sweep by pulling McGhee back over his leg and almost immediately locking up a kimura.
