Thursday was a game changer in my career. A great friend of mine/business partner (Ciara Lee) went on a journey recently. As we boarded our flight to leave Eppley airport to head to LAX, my wildest dreams and happiest thoughts traveled to my mind. I sensed a concoction of confidence, excitement, and hesitance. A stranger approached me and asked for a bite of the hot dog I was eating (way to ease the nerves, right?) I scanned my Passbook boarding pass and we boarded our plane at 9:55pm. Smiling and giggling, we took our seats in aisle 17 and took flight to the friendly skies.
Although I went with the typical hopes of getting noticed, I wasn't quite sure what I would be noticed for. Would it be my makeup? Would it be my choice of clothing? What if someone just needed a fill-in for assistant work? Let's just say, I got more out of this trip than I expected! Friday was the first challenge: Operation Networking. We strolled through Beverly Hills chatting with members of Roc Nation, down to Live Nation, Revolt TV, and BET. To top off the night, we downed Coronaritas at a Mexican restaurant, giggled at confessions of promiscuity on the walls of a men's underwear store, then partied at The Abbey. Oh, Abbey. Lots of voguing and Gaga impersonators.
Sunday was a huge success! Ciara and I attended Words 2 Wisdom, hosted by Rob Hill Sr. and Karen Civil. Go check them out if you're unfamiliar with them! Such humble and amazing individuals, it was definitely an honor to be within their presence and hear their testimonies!
