Has Kirsh ever referred to the hybrids as children before episode 7?? When he said that "one of the children got careless"? For the life of me, I can't remember him ever doing that before, and he's usually very adamant about the hybrids not being children anymore, to both the hybrids and anyone else who says that they're kids. Between that comment and him telling Smee and Slightly (even jokingly) that they're grounded makes me wonder if Isaac's death made him realize treating the hybrids like they're automatically adults now wasn't the right approach.
I also wonder if he thought about his conversation with Joe after he found Isaac, when Joe asked if Marcy was safe, and Kirsh told him that of course she was. The aliens were behind all that glass and steel, and that Marcy was strong enough to kill a fully grown xenomorph. That Joe could keep telling himself that Marcy is a child who needs someone to look after her, but that she wasn't anymore. I wonder if he thought of that when he looked at Isaac, someone who was just as strong, just as intelligent, and just as "safe" as Marcy.
