This is safe...right? (Inspired by a real hibiscus-shaped lamp post the artist saw)
Hey you!
Do you know what is the best thing to do here in Malaysia? Eat, eat, and uh...oh ya, eat! XD See that mini mountain on a bowl there? I am having my favorite dessert and it is called “Ais Kacang” or “ABC” which stands for “Air Batu Campur”, and it is known as mixed shaved ice in English. You can basically add anything to it from ice-cream to small slices of fruits and even jellies topped with any flavored syrup. The amount of variety and mixtures of this dessert that you can create is never-ending and is the reason why Ais Kacang is my favorite dessert of all time!
Local cuisines such as Nasi Lemak or even Laksa Curry Noodles are also mouth watering dishes which you can try. Don’t forget to give the Durians a bite as well! And if you’re still feeling hungry after dinner at night, visit any mamak stalls and order a hot glass of Teh Tarik. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!
Hello again, everypony! This time I’ll talk a bit about Marelaysia’s local fruits and even a popular drink that can be found there.
In the first one, of a rather surreal art of me, I’m floating with what is called a purple mangosteen or just simply a mangosteen. It has a white flesh on the inside and they’re rather sweet and juicy. Only the white flesh inside is edible so don’t simply munch on the whole thing! Fun fact, the small little “petals” in the flower-like pattern at the bottom of the fruit corresponds with the number of segments of white flesh you find inside.
The weather here can sometimes be pretty hot, but there’s plenty of ice cold drinks that can help quench your thirst. One that I’d recommend is Sirap Ice. It is basically a rose cordial syrup drink and can also be mixed with evaporated or condensed milk. The best fruit that you can find in Malaysia, is called the Durian, or in most southeast Asian countries, it is also known as the “King of Fruits”! It has hard and spiky skin but in the inside is a yellowish flesh fruit that tastes very delicious! But be careful with the hard seed in the middle. Sadly, not many love the smell and taste of the fruit but if you’re not one of them, then you are one lucky person! ^o^
Have you guys tried playing any of these traditional games? They’re super fun to play and it is a great past time activity too! Let me tell you some of my favorites. The first is called Sepak Takraw. There is no specific english translation for that but it is a game where you try to keep the ball off the ground using only your legs! Next one is called Batu Seremban, or also known as five stones. This game requires speed and precision as when you throw one stone up, you gotta pick up another stone from the ground and then catch the stone that you threw. Best way to enjoy this game is to play it with a friend, or even four! Spinning tops or Gasing is the hardest traditional game that I have ever played. Trust me, it is not easy trying to get the top to spin using a long string attached to it. But after many tries and practices, huzzah!
Lastly, this game is a piece of cake for you if you are good at calculation. Congkak needs two ponies to play and it can be a very fast game sometimes. The name Congkak was believed to be originated from the old Malay “congak”, which gives meaning as mental calculation. Collect the most marbles and you win!
My name is Rosa Blossomheart, and as all of you might know, my cutie mark is a framed painting of a heart. Today I will be telling you all a story of my journey on how I got my cutie mark!
So, one day, I received my cutie mark back when I was still a filly by helping my best friend in Manehattan cope with a long depressing stay in a hospital. I had always loved to draw and it started out as botanical sketches of pretty flowers in my parents’ greenhouse. I eventually moved on to painting my family and friends as I loved seeing their happy faces when they see their gifts. With that, I took it upon myself to try and cheer my friend up by drawing the things she loves.
After some effort, she eventually did crack a smile and I was just so happy! Before I knew what was happening, there was this blinding flash of light! I can still remember the look on my friend’s face, she was wearing this huge grin on her face and silly me, I didn’t even realised what happened at first until she pointed towards my flank. It was my cutie mark! Gilanya masa itu-I mean it was crazy! (Sorry, I slipped back into my native tongue when I get excited >u<) It was a happy day despite the circumstances. In case anyone is worried, my friend did make a full recovery and I still stay in touch with her. She did scold me for working myself too hard though...whoops...and she didn’t want me to mention her name =3=
Rosa just got the latest news and bittersweet as it may be, she knows in her heart that the battle was fought hard and strong till the finish. Quite literally a silver lining shines through brighter than ever tonight.
Congratulations, Lee Chong Wei! Rosa and all your friends here at marelaysia. are super duper proud of you!!
