Seriously, If you'v never heard of this comic by @sysiheart - PLEASE go give it a read, it's SO GOOD and actually made me emotional at a lot of points. The artstyle's also so, so beautiful!

I was expecting it to be bootleg Warrior Cats (not that that's a bad thing!) But it really is it's own story with it's own world and I got wrapped up in it so quickly and deeply I just..UGHHHHHHHHHH GO READ IT

Surprise!! As the holidays come to a close, I can now share that I had the immense pleasure to make this holiday illustration for Gears for Breakfast, makers of A Hat in Time, for their annual gift box! (with custom chocolates, also designed by me!)

This project truly came out of nowhere through a chance encounter at TennoCon 2025, but what a blast it's been to finally play (and fall in love with!) A Hat in Time and to work on making something for such an amazing team!

Here's an alternative early rough sketch where everything is on fire and everyone is having a bad time (except Snatcher of course). This was agreed to be a bad idea for the box art.

So instead it was used for the holiday card inside the box lmao

This commission technically began in August, but most of the work was in September (particularly the later half, as I was also working on Warframe's Movember 2025 glyph at the same time! Oh god!!)

The project was all around challenging for me, primarily in dealing with a such an unfamiliar subject matter (cartoon-ish character designs in a wholesome holiday illustration, a first for me!), as well as having to brush up my vector skills a bit and learn how to Inkscape at the last minute for the chocolate icons. It was tough! But I'm glad I was able to persevere and end up with something satisfactory! And even more importantly, have a successful commission experience with a commercial client other than Digital Extremes! Absolutely huge!!

California Newt 🦎🌟 Riso printed with fluorescent pink and sea foam.

Technically California newts have orange bellies and brown skin, I had limited color access for riso printing so I took some creative liberties.

This print will be available at my next event at the Aquarium of the Bay Craft Fair on Sunday June 7th!
