Today’s obligatory dose of green arrives care of Artist-in-Residence Marela Zacarias, creator of “Echoing Forms.” This is just one of three of her floor-to-ceiling banners that welcome visitors to 1515 Broadway.

The mesmerizing pieces in “Echoing Forms,” the new installation at 1515 Broadway, look like pieces of fabric, but they’re actually sculptures. The process: after a mesh base is shaped, Artist-in-Residence Marela Zacarias transforms them: “I start by adding layers of plaster – really thin layers, very slowly and building up the surface until it’s hard. Once they’re done, we paint them.”

1515 Broadway is proud to welcome “Echoing Forms,” a new collection of work from Artist-in-Residence Marela Zacarias. Marela describes the exhibit as “a site-specific installation that is about the creative process itself.” We’ll be exploring more aspects of the installation all this week. Stay tuned!
