Dark Hand Drawn Gifs of Marija Ančić (aka maremonstrum)
Marija Ančić was born in Sarajevo in 1982, graduated from UMAS with degrees in Sculpture and Art Restoration and currently works full time as an artist. She says she started working with gifs because she felt there was something missing in her drawings and the loop gave her the ability to ‘create that impossible and absurd reality where my characters simply exist in their troubles, surviving but never getting out’. She also says they are influenced by horror literature and extreme metal music.
