“Mare’s Tails” are clouds like these that mean rain within a day or so. Dad always enjoyed old-farmer-type weatherwise tricks like that, and if he were here, he would tell us about mare’s tails as if he’d never told us, as if he hadn’t been telling us about them since the seventies, as if since the seventies every time he saw mare’s tails he hadn’t explained them to us as if for the first time.
