my headcanon for MoE Tango is that he would be able to catch grasshoppers with just his hands. Growing up with big fields, surely he has practice catching grasshoppers. preeeetty sure catching grasshoppers is a normal activity for children and not just a me thing. (I was considering doing a bit of "oh sauce I'm teaching MoE Tango to catch grasshoppers," but I think he would already know)

I did this as a kid too! I think Tango’s the kind of guy to do it one handed. He just scoops em up and is like "look at this guy!" When hes done just tosses them back into the grass.

This is canon ive decided.

Or did Grian chase off any man who tried to even get close (he’s so mama bird coded)

Or maybe he did but they just weren’t really serious or something along those lines

I did answer this before but I can't find it? I...cannot talk about this alot. for....secret reasons.

BUT. yeah he's dated before. Mostly in college and towards the very end of Highschool. Grian, ever the mama bird, was only harsh with the first guy. The one in Highschool. Because like, they were still kids, and it was Jimmy's first "serious" relationship. It wasn't so much of scaring the guy off as it was rules. keep the bedroom door open, come home before eleven, text someone where you are and don't be stupid. Grian had a lot of things to worry about outside of Jimmy's love life that he tried to be chill and put it on the back burner.

The issue came when they broke up and Scar had to physically hold Grian down for a little till he calmed down. He really thought Jimmy would be the one doing the breaking up and when it went the other way around he was PISSED. No killing happened though.

When college rolled around Jimmy wasn't super vocal about his partners. and he's never brought any of them home. he'll say they were serious, and one lasted about six to seven months. But Grian never met them. Scar never me them. Joel only met one college boyfriend (he didnt't like him).

If this sheds any light on how Jimmy is with relationships and how Tango is already VERY different from other people Jimmy has dated. the rest of these dots will connect come chapter 5, pink prommy <3

there is merit to this ask other then that tounge twister tho!!!!!! I wanted to ask how the ranchers react when they show one another their art/projects/passions, (and as a treat maybe Grian if you can think of something)

I ask because although someone might love you they might have trouble understanding what you love. for example I liked to show my mom some of my writing when I was younger but when I showed my writings to fellow writers I got deeper compliments because my mom wasn’t able to understand that she shouldn’t be giggling occasionally (I think it was to show interest but like- when I make the characters go through something sad and your laughing you’re kinda insulting my writing :/) but a fellow would appreciate the writing style of something or perhaps the flow of it (compliments i got recently and hold close and dear to my chest <3)

so yeah a tad long winded but like how do they appreciate each others passions? do they do it in a way that you can tell they don’t understand but care anyway, understand and care or in a way as explained above?

HEY BABE! I should be working on 5 rn but we all know tumblr is the distraction of choice so here we are!

This is a topic we lighly explore throughout chapter six of MoE, but I'll talk about it a little here.

Tango draws, we decided in a post from Elen. I'm trying to fit that sentiment into the story, but it's not something he shares. He just does it, doesn't think he's much good at it, doesn't care to share it. So when It comes to Tango's drawings, Jimmy tends to quietly appritiate them. Tango's engineering work though? He LOVES when Jimmy listens to him yap. He like explainging things, he likes that Jimmy asks questions about it, he likes that someone is intrested in what he does. he's been told, in the past, that no one really cares for his "nerd stuff" and for most of his life he only had Zed to talk shop with. It means a lot when Jimmy not only asks, but remembers things about his projects.

Jimmy's passion is books. He likes to explain the stories and discuss the nuance and show off his annotations. He ONLY does this if someone asks though. He will not EVER bring it up on his own. This is why Tango pulls teeth to learn about Jimmy's favorite books and ask questions that are more thought provoking than "why does the character do that?" Jimmy feels A LOT about that, he's never ever had someone try like that.

Grian, because you asked for him, has some crazy imposter syndrome. he doesn't think hes good at the architecture thing and feels like he needs to perfect to make it along side his classmates. He still loves it though, and that makes the work worth it. He shares this with Jimmy because Jimmy will be honest about if something doesn't look right. Also because Jimmy knows how Grian is and will go "oh I really like this tiny niche thing you did" and it helps Grian feel seen. He only shows Scar his work because Scar will look at it with a crtical eye. kind of--to Grian it looks that way. In reality, Scar is simply absorbing how good it is. He loves seeing Grian's work because he has a natural talent for it. He likes to run his finger over the designs, leaning over the back of Grian's chair and into his form and say "I love this." with no further explaination because he doesn't have one. Grian is so used to Jimmy telling him the parts that he likes, that Scar not telling him any is...different.

aoughh Scarian my love. they just GET eachother in a way thats so natural. They don't need to try to be right for eachother.

Obligatory sorry if you’ve been asked this already!

What are your drunk headcanons for the boys? Tipsy, flat out, and then day after if you have thoughts.. Also, do either avoid drinking, or only drink alone/around certain people? One of my guilty pleasures is drunk fics >_> and I was grinning like an idiot when Jimmy got all touchy at that party in MoE… I also love that you didn’t have Tango give in — chefs kiss! That’s what we love to see! 🦃

SO, i've had to rotate this one for a moment. I don't drink a lot personally and I grew up in a family that doesn't drink a lot. We're like a, special/social occasion family and we're also hermits of our own making so...not often. My first big experience with alcohol was college and I'm such a worrier that I tend to stay sober and take care of my friends. I figured, because it's (alcohol) such a big part of American university culture, it would be important to include in MoE, ALSO because it's before Jimmy can legally drink. it's become a plot point now.

I'm not sure I have general 'drunk' head canons for the characters. I do for MoE though, so I'm going to stick to that for today's list.

Oli is a light weight. He get three seltzers in him and has all the confidence in the world. he can and will do a sloppy power point presentation, he's funny as all get out, and the next day he bounces back with just a bottle of water and cold shower.

Gem is also a light weight--but she knows it. She sips her drinks and has water intermittently, she hates being hungover. If she's going to let go and have fun she's more often than not leaving her drink with a trusted individual (almost always Joel) and running around to her hearts content. For her its more about seeing her friends than it is the drinking.

Joel is an "I love you so much" drunk. He's normally the DD or the 'I can only have one I'm just here to watch my wife have fun' guy. but when he takes the chance to drink he's almost always dropping the tough guy act and telling everyone how much he loves them. He will also tell someone how much he hates them. Just, no filter on his emotions really. Joel likes cider because "appy juice for real men"

Jimmy is touchy. SOOOOOOO touchy and clingy. He just wants to be close to someone. He normally ends up under Etho's arm, or smooshed into Grian's side. He's cold and he's tired and he wants to be close. (and Tango will never say no to a clingy Jimmy)

Tango holds his alcohol really well. It take a lot to get him tipsy and even more to get him drunk. He'll sway a little when it gets bad, but overall he somehow gets smarter?? He's one of those nerds that does math when he's drunk. The first TIES poker night, he and Impulse drunkenly create an entire engine blueprint and it was actually good enough for Impulse to use on a project later. He'll get EXTRA southern because he isn't holding it back. He misses home a little extra and turns into a real sly flirt because he was raised by cynical cowboys of course he starts slinging comments about horses and "the industry"

Etho doesn't drink.

Bdubs only drinks if Etho is there. He like to lean back into Etho's front and people watch. Bdubs gets quiet when he drinks and it falls to Etho to fill their space.

Scar has never been drunk...viably. mans holds it so well you'd never know.

Grian always stops after two. he's never let go enough to know what he's like drunk.

Pearl has only ever done fancy events with like champagne and wine. She holds one drink the whole night and goes with that. if she were to go a bar it would be a neat whiskey and that's it.

Skizz is Venezuelan, if you've ever seen a good Latino block party, THAT. if you haven't, I'm sorry. you're missing out. THATS ALL I GOT! I had to really think this through and even then I feel like a lot of it is up for debate/ might change as the story goes.

has moe tango ever seen the northern lights? i'm pretty sure they don't reach texas very often (if ever) so i think it'd be fun if he was like "woahhhh"

my brain just gave me, like. maybe a late night at the lab, tango is the only one there (or maybe jimmy too), he's completely absorbed in a project and then he looks out the window and the sky is green/blue and hw just watches it for a while as a way of taking a break

idk i'm drawing some northern lights right now to try to get used to krita some more and yeah

I don't think he has :(. This is really just realism though because Tango's lived in Texas his whole life and then is currently in the midwest. The northern lights don't really appear in any of those areas.

NOW, I could totally write this in if I wanted to, because I've never said where Tango did his undergraduate schooling. I haven't thought about it because honestly I feel like he maybe went to a school on the east coast? This is something I would have to research because I know nothing about good engineering schools. but lets say, for fun, that maybe Tango did go to a school where the northern lights could be visible and that maybe he did get to see them.

If he did, I imagine it would be a lot like what he does camping in Texas. He would take the time to sit out there and stare at the sky. and he would think too much, and wish he had friend next to him to share it with. and he would be happy, because Tango really is happy outdoors. Even if he is a guy who likes tinkering in sheds.

I would say yeah? like he's not trained and he's not going out of his way to bring it up. But he can carry a tune and if someone is close enough to hear it, they would say it sounds nice.
