Wait, hold on.
Anya has two older step-sisters, Maria and Angela. If Maria is based on Maria Vasquez/Tarantula, could that mean that Angela is a reference to... Angela del Toro, the White Tiger?
Well, that's quite the family.

So here's the gist with the Corazón family:
At some point, Anya's dad (presumably still Gil in this universe) married again, giving Anya a step-mother, who remains unnamed.
She was already a mom, not of one, but two daughters, giving Anya two older step-sisters.
One is Maria and the other Angela. She goes unseen in this episode.
It seems Gil remarried very early in Anya's life, since it's stated that her older sisters were the ones who inspired her to pursue science.
Tying this up with Maria's comic counterpart she does in fact have a deceased younger sister named Rosa who died during the Stamford incident. She's never shown as having a mom, but it's implied that she's dead.
A new promo for the new episode.
Seems that Maria is the one in the Spider-Slayer suit.
Dunno how she is going to be related to Anya, but I kinda want her to be her older sister, heh. Good ol' fashioned sibling rivalry.
Speaking of Tarantula, she's high on my list of "latinas I want Anya to team-up with". In the top five at least.
I like that she's probably the only example of a latina who is a uber genius. Like, at least Bruce Banner level of genius.
Considering her heritage is ambiguos, she's of latina but we don't know from what nationality her family is from, they might as well retcon her to being related to Anya in the comics too.
Part of the Spider-Girl vs Tarantula fight.
