You may or may not know that actress/director Rebecca Hall has spoken of her Detroit-born mom, Maria Ewing, a mezzo soprano opera singer, "passing" into whiteness...and how this was an inspiration for her to pursue adapting and directing the film, Passing w/ Ruth Negga & Tessa Thompson (which is an excellent slow-burn horror movie IMO and was robbed of award show recognition). Well, she recently posted one of her mom's operic performances... And I found this one. One of the most recognizable roles in opera, Carmen in Bizet's Carmen.
