EN: "Chair 71" by Maria Barros Design de Interiores and produced by Trastes e Contrastes in Siége velvet. Inspired by the living memories of Maria Barros, specifically the assembly of the panel tiles of the Arq. João Abel Manta (AV. Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon). "Pure Inspiration 70s in our city of Lisbon. I have vivid memories of seeing this assembly happen at an age where I already had judgment to appreciate the impact of that color fade. I've always liked to go through that city entrance with light, texture and humor. Memories of a childhood, here transposed for a pair of chairs with vibe disk and "alfacinha" roots." #aldeco #interiorfabrics #mariabarros #siége #velvet #trastesecontrastes #lisbonroots #homeing #lifestyle www.aldeco.pt

madrid fashion week: maría barros

oh, my. how have we been existing on the planet without having discussed the madrid fashion week designers in...what? like, a looong while, right? well, i promise that will change, and although we'll still be in fast-forward mode where most of these labels are concerned, at least we'll have the opportunity to check them out, yes?
so! with that in mind, let's welcome designer maría barros and her s/s 2013 range, which elle explained was called 'sleeping muse,' after the romanian sculptor constantin brancusi's 1910 piece of the same name. carrying on, they added that (trans.) "(p)urity of lines, cylindrical and oval shapes in shades of marble, bronze, stone, wood and gold, with touches of black" were the elements which defined the collection.
elsewhere, according to the spanish site el mundo, like the artist, ms. barros was attempting to (trans.) "search for the essence of things," while adding that "much folding and draping" was at play in her work.
and in a (trans.) "predominantly sober palette of brown and white", hola related that the designer has "taken as a benchmark circular forms of [brancusi's] works, resulting in bulky clothes with loops or waves. These contrast with other forms of steep cuts very close to the body."
they also explained that the accessories included (again, trans.) "(l)arge sample accessories made of metal, such as helmets, 'XXL' earrings, bracelets and necklaces. They emphasize especially the parts that reproduce the character of the work.. Meanwhile, in footwear, the sandals opt for a wide heel rise and are made in bison." and finally, the spanish site stilo noted that (trans.) "(t)he sculpture comes true in baggy high-waisted capri pants with matching blouses including details like draped necklines and sleeves."
