South Gate City Council Tradition Dies with Maria Davila and Al Rios Lies & Power Grab

South Gate has many long standing traditions one of them is rotating the city mayor position every year. A tradition put in place to keep a checks and balance in place to prevent the previous corruption that nearly bankrupted the city during the Albert Robles era. This tradition has been honored and respected for many, many, years. That is until South Gate Council Members Maria Davila and Al Rios decided titles and power where more important than the people of South Gate, California.  During the city council meeting, and just before,  the appointment of the new mayor was going to take place. A local community leader by the name of Thomas Buckley played an audio recording from the previous year when Maria Davila and Al Rios adamantly described how important this tradition was and would never think of breaking with it. That was until opportunity presented itself and they both went back on their word and lied the residents of South Gate.

Al Rios is not well known or liked in South Gate. Since being elected to the South Gate City Council he has been basically absent  and has disappeared from the community. He has been the subject of scrutiny by many residents in South Gate who are wondering what he has done for the city. As one resident said during a city council meeting “Nobody knows who you are”. Al Rios said during a city council meeting “I don't know why everyone is upset! the mayor is just ceremonial position” Making comments like this just demonstrates his condescending attitude towards the residents of South Gate and how out of touch he is with the community and his position as a council member.

Maria Davila has lost a lot of respect and support from the residents of South Gate since she finally showed everyone that Greed, Power, and Personal gain, are what she is in politics for. While residents suffer from COVID restrictions Maria Davila continues her pattern of lies. Recently Maria Davila was taking credit for getting Federal money that was given to the city that she had NOTHING to with. Yet she is lying to everyone taking full credit for it.

It is obvious to everyone that corruption is back in South Gate and Maria Davila and Al Rios are leading the way. With a lot of big city contracts coming up this year you bet these two will have their corrupt and greedy hands out. They have already lied to the people of South Gate and they don't even deny it. What else are they lying about? The first step was the power grab of the two leading positions on the South Gate city council. A very coordinated plan that will only lead to the downfall of South Gate and the suffering of the residents in the end. One quote from a resident after Maria Davila and Al Rios voted themselves in as Mayor and Vice Mayor “Welcome to Power” the quote that has resonated throughout the entire city of South Gate describing Maria Davila and Al Rios GREED, Thirst for power, and CORRUPTION.
