Framework!GrantWard Fan Theory
So I have been thinking of this fan theory since May(the month not the badass) and just felt like to sharing. I’m sure it wont happen and yet I can’t help myself from watching all of the Framework episodes of Agents of SHIELD in this light.
While studying Hive to create his InHuman serum, Radcliffe found parts of a consciousness still active. Considering he would have still been looking for a way to extend Agnes’ life, he would have jumped at the opportunity to examine it. Its possible that he could have used that consciousness to create AIDA and the FRAMEWORK, essentially using it as a guinea pig.
The following examples that to me make more sense under this theory than what has been told to us in cannon: that Ward in the Framework is basically an NPC programmed from the others’ memories and possible SHIELD’s files.
1. Ward is dating Skye.
a. Why would a Ward based on everyone’s memories be with Skye? For one its been years since they were romantically involved and their romance wasn’t very prolific. Although it is possible that Ward’s obsession with her would stick in their minds.
2. Ward is basically Mace’s second in command.
a. Mace has never met Ward, being the director of SHIELD I am sure he knows of Ward, as an enemy, but it makes no sense that Ward be programmed as someone Mace trusts so much.
3. Most of the other NPCs, are not completely different from the people they were in the real world.
a. In the framework Trip is very much the sexy, smart second generation SHIELD agent he was in seasons 1 and 2. Burrows is still the same person he was in life. Bakshi is slightly different, but makes sense within the Frameworks timeline. Now Vijay Nader is different and isn’t exactly the same, however we really didn’t get to know him very well, and its possible that Hydra’s uprising has caused these changes. Also him being connected to the resistance, ultimately serves AIDA’s plan.
b. Now lets look at Ward, who aside from his skills and being a double agent, is pretty different from his real world version. These changes didn’t happen because of the uprising but took place nearly 10 years before. Hand recruited Ward instead of Garrett. Now this seems less like an NPC and much more like someone living in a world where he was able to change one of his biggest regret.
Now I definitely think these points are arguable and would love to have a friendly discussion about it!
Of course being the Biospec trash that I am, I can’t help but think that part of that consciousness is Will’s as well. This makes FrameWard not shooting Fitz make more sense. And possibly the Will part of him, woke up when the woman he loved declared her love for someone he thinks is a monster. Just sayin'...
