keeping in fashion || marie & sybille

A little birdie had whispered in Sybille's ear that a little known seamstress, one Mademoiselle Duval, had been called by the queen herself to make her a dress. The dress itself was waiting in the queen's closet now, itching for a chance to show itself. But before it did, the seamstress who made it was still relatively unknown. Soon she would be flooded with noble women and bourgeois like Sybille, begging her to make them dresses 'just like the Queen's'. While Sybille didn't care for a replica she did care about keeping in fashion, and if Mademoiselle Duval was going to be the fashion, then she must have one.
Sybille approached her stall, happy to find her in a lull. It was familiar to her; occasionally she had browsed the fabrics before, never with any real interest until now. It was nice to put a name to the face, at last.
Today she was drawn to a deep, sapphire blue cotton, smiled as she ghosted her fingers over it. "This is a lovely fabric," she commented, smiling at the woman behind the stall. "I don't believe I've seen a shade of blue quite like this..." She reached out for a nearby cream, pulled it over so it sat next to the blue, overlaid the fabrics and hummed. "Ah yes, these two would go wonderful together; they would make a beautiful dress."
