Who would turn six children into vampires then just.. Leave them? Why would you bring them to me?
It was a peaceful day in the Jones household. Marigold was humming along with the radio while sketching and Prunella was scanning the online news for what could possibly be a new case. It promised to be a pajamas until noon kind of morning when a knock came at the door. Prunella, who was the most dressed out of the couple, answered the door to see Detective Lee standing there. “May we come in?” he asked the tall vampiress.
Prunella raised an eyebrow staring. “We?” she asked. Lee stepped to the side to reveal a flock of children all pale or ashen skinned the oldest looking barely ten years old. The detail that stuck out the most though was that all of them had glowing eyes. “We, listen the story is long complicated and I'd rather not have to tell it out here,” Lee said looking around. Prunella was suddenly thankful that she had planted long hedges. While she could glamour herself, six vampletts were a little too much for her magic. “Come in,” Prunella said stepping aside.
Lee walking in with the children following close behind as if too scared to venture too far from the man. Seeing they had company Marigold scrambled for the bedroom to get dressed. “Well, this should be interesting.” She said sitting down in her armchair. She waited for the dark-skinned detective to take a seat as well. “We got a report that kids were disappearing at the Winshings Park. My division got the case after they found one of the parents drained of all blood.” A whimper came from one of the children and Lee cleared his throat. “I can go ever the details with you over email if you want them but needless to say when we thought we were dealing with a Nest we didn’t think we would find them.” Lee finished looking at the children. Prunella thought she was going to be sick. Just then Marigold came out of the room managing not only to pull herself together but also look polished though still in bare feet. She walked over the children and put her hands on her knees.
“Who wants to color?” She asked with a bright smile. The ten-year-old lit up and nodded. She offered the little boy her hand who took it and started to followed it. The others followed him and Prunella was starting to put a few things together. When the last of the children when into Marigold’s studio Prunella turned her attention to the detective. “Was there an adult somewhere near?” She asked looking right at him. Lee knew how to block out vampiric mind games but he trusted Prunella enough to look into her eyes and have no tricks behind the action. “That was the strange part. There wasn’t anyone there that could answer for this.” He said “Who would turn six kids and then just… Leave them?” She asked, peering towards the room that the kids were huddled in. “Why bring them to me?” She continued looked at the wizard with pursed lips. “Well, your woman they’re kids so I thought…” “That’s sexist.” Marigold pipped as she walked out of her studio. The children were properly distracted by her watercolors. “I’ve got to agree with her. That’s a little up on the scale.” Prunella added.
“I’m joking. Look they’re only a few foster home houses that specialize in supernatural children and out of them none have room for six children that are practically attached at the hip. No seriously, one of the women from my team tried to take one of the children to talk to them in private on all that happened was she had to defend from being scratched to hell and back. The kids are only calm when they’re around each other.” Lee said then sighed. Prunella let the information sink in while Marigold wondered around the kitchen. “Prunella what do little vampires eat?” She asked realizing she had no idea how to feed them. “They will need whatever you put in front of them but I would try and see if we have any beets. The look the most like blood.” Prunella said remembering how her own mother used to feed them.
“I’m not surprised that they want to stay together. I can’t imagine what they’ve gone through.” Marigold said as she looked through the canned good in the cupboards over the stove. “Not to the point that they attack if separated. I think this might be something else.” Prunella answered leaning back in her chair. “So you’ll help them stay?” Lee asked his face hopeful. “Well until I can get my mother on the phone. She’ll know what to do.” Prunella said with a sigh. Just thinking about the woman made Prunella exhausted.
(Prompt from here (X). Thought I owed @merry-go-sims something seeing as I’ve had her and everyone else in the rest of the collabrative legacy in limbo for a while now.)
