the way Toadsworth stuck with Boo through all his worst moments-- his drinking/ alcohol addiction, his tyrannical assent to the throne where he executed Bleck, his half-assed running of the kingdom, general hedonism/ wild sex parties, and apathy toward his citizens...

paired w the mitski's "my baby my baby" it's like. well shit Toadsworth that really was your boy wasn't it. You were really ready to just. Let him be a monster because he was your son. Damn.

You can see the affection Toadsworth still holds for the boy they raised/ the boy Boo used to be I think. They WANT him to be better, I think, but either the past or their sympathy for BOO's past has clouded their vision, or else the difference in station bxt the king and his servant is too great for them to reprimand him in any effective way.
