Quint and Maris

In eight years, I've only realized that I love them even more

So I saw these posts [x], [x] and @themirepirate's whole Gloam Pallitax au

And got kinda hooked on the idea so...

A totally normal family photo with just the right number of children! (Yes I know quint isnt linius's son but he would have appeared in this photo for sure)

Also Gloam getting on Vilnix's nerves (I know it's not era appropriate but I couldn't find a better insult) I feel like he would kinda tail him and pop out whenever something unfortunate happens

Also my man Linius looking like he's about to drop dead in two minutes cause he be looking like that

after twig was abandoned in the deepwoods and after the divorce and fight happened Gloam went off into the deepwoods as well. Partially to sulk and torment travelers, partially to look for the baby.

the events of beyond the deepwoods play out similarly as gloam was pondering what to do about twig while still keeping him alive. On one hand, thats his sisters kid, on the other, hes also his worst enemies spawn. Then Cloudwolf abandons Twig again and Gloam is like, '???? Truly the stupidity of man is unfathomable' He snatches Twig up and carries the kid to the free glades, which are just beginning to form.

DRAWTOBER #13 - Wolves of Earth and Sky by Why_Live_In_Reality

Did Cloud Wolf recognise the odd Woodtroll child at the Lumberyard? Would it have been difference if Maris Pallitax had still been beside him? Would the most unlikely of families been able to find happiness together despite the Gloamglozer's curse? Basically I still have lots of feels regarding Quint and Maris, particularly how they just fell apart between leaving Sanctaphrax and Twig finding Cloud Wolf. Time to rewrite canon!

this fic rec is dedicated to the 2013 tumblr Edge Chronicles crew ✌ if you're still around here somewhere, go and read this now! I know posting Verginix family content is pretty niche in 2022 but ohhhh my god, this fic is EVERYTHING my baby self dreamed of; it follows an AU where Maris and Quint managed to stay together after losing Twig... and that one tiny change makes all the difference to their story! what I'm particularly loving is how 3D the author has made these characters - Maris and Quint may have their baby back, but that doesn't necessarily make them natural parents, or even good parents, and their respective parental trauma really informs the way they approach him. also, this isn't just a character study, or even a straight book rewrite, there's a whole new subplot introduced and it's so fucking great, I am on the EDGE (haha) of my seat waiting for the next update! a fixit for my beloved childhood faves (Paul, Chris, if you're reading this, I love you, but WHY is no one allowed a happy ending oh my god), but written for the standards of a grownup audience - what more could I ask for????
