the edge chronicles has the funniest take on Descended From Ancient Royal Bloodline. the main character, twig, is secretly the son of a famous sky pirate - but that sky pirate is a cringefail indebted divorcee keeping twig's heritage secret from the rest of the world and also he got dissolved by a storm. all of the main characters are from a specific family, but said family is only significant because they keep on getting involved in batshit insane world politics. 10/10 would curse again

if the edge chronicles were a multilingual world, you could have waifs able to read anyone's thoughts regardless of language and then introduce waif translators and of course waif translator slaves and assassins who cause chaos by deliberately killing waif translators. because this is the edge chronicles we're talking about

Started rereading the book. And damn, I really hope this specific scene makes it into the director’s cut.

Like, in the movie Grace and Rocky figure out how to communicate pretty quickly and it almost feels effortless. But I NEED more moments of them figuring it out and getting used to each other.
