after twig was abandoned in the deepwoods and after the divorce and fight happened Gloam went off into the deepwoods as well. Partially to sulk and torment travelers, partially to look for the baby.

the events of beyond the deepwoods play out similarly as gloam was pondering what to do about twig while still keeping him alive. On one hand, thats his sisters kid, on the other, hes also his worst enemies spawn. Then Cloudwolf abandons Twig again and Gloam is like, '???? Truly the stupidity of man is unfathomable' He snatches Twig up and carries the kid to the free glades, which are just beginning to form.

midnight over sanctaphrax is one of my favourite books of all time, but the thing that really puts it apart from any other book i've read is its opening. most books give you context. even the ones that start in media res generally give you a bit of space to breathe. midnight over sanctaphrax starts with the protagonist flying into a hurricane, nearly going insane and killing one of his oldest friends, being told by his father that the world is going to end and he's the only one who can stop it, watching his father disintegrate, then being violently thrown out of his ship (which had exploded) to crashland outside murder university with a severe case of amnesia. that's the setup for the plot. there's truly nothing like it in fiction.

it's been a while since I visited TEC , so this is the result
