She was a star student in the academy and graduated with honors. Academically she was only a little above average, but it was her fighting skills that blew the teachers away. She had a talent for incorporating new techniques into ghoul extermination practices, most notably utilizing a Krav Maga strategy and small quinque steel knife to go for the spine and temporarily paralyze ghouls. Even after her death this move has been kept in the training regimen thanks to its amazing success rate, but few people can replicate it as well as she did it

Akira really is a carbon copy of her, Kasuka was identical to her at her age. Also much like her daughter, she was very work oriented and disliked having her plans interrupted. She was never diagnosed with anything, but after Akira’s school suggested getting her tested for neurodivergency, it sort of clicked for her. She didn’t pursue it further for herself but made sure her daughter had accommodations

She and Kureo were partners before they started dating, and that man fell for her after seeing her completely body an S rated ghoul. He loves, as he puts it “a woman who can actually kill me”

Their first date was after a mission. It was 2 am, they’d just barely escaped a hard battle, and Kasuka offered to buy him a late ass dinner because Damn it they deserve something after a day like that. Kureo was so happy to get food with her at some dingy 24/7 diner that he didn’t even tell her that he was bleeding profusely from a stab wound in his back until they were done

She had weird little hills to die on. Like she never stays more than exactly 20 minutes after her shift ends unless previously planned, she has to sit on the left side of her couch at home and will ask guests to move if they sit there first, and she will never change anything that’s on her official papers. When she refused Kureo’s first proposal because she didn’t want to change her name, he was crushed for days, sure that she just said that to spare him the truth that she doesn’t want to spend her life with him. He eventually talked with her about it and. She just. She just doesn’t want to change her name and assumed he wanted her too. Turns out they were both being miscommunicating idiots because they literally do not have to do that, and got married with Kasuka maintaining her maiden name. Kureo even changed his to hers. She girlbossed so hard this man changed all his licensing

They planned to have Akira a year after getting married, and did exactly that. She was going a little stir crazy in maternity leave (which Kureo had to talk her into taking all of) so she took up writing as a hobby. She isn’t a fan of writing fiction, so she recounted a lot of her stories as an investigator. When akira was training to be an investigator, she referenced them a lot

Akira wanted a cat since she was seven, but she couldn’t get one due to her mother’s allergy. Kasuka put in her will that if she dies, Kureo should get her a cat. It was sort of an inside joke between her and her husband that that’s what it would take to end the stream of papers and PowerPoint presentations from their daughter on why they should get a cat, but ended up being practical. After she died in the fight with the Owl, Kureo honored the joking request, and got his daughter Maris Stella
