“So I will give you the right to rule as kings, just as my Father has given me the right to rule as a king.” Luke 22:29 CEV
I was praying about which Bible verses to use (as I usually do) and a word popped into my mind: “Chess”. I was puzzled as to what this could mean in spiritual terms and I asked God about it. It wasn’t until a few days later that an answer came to me: Jesus is the “White”-robed King (Luke 9:29, Mark 9:3) who controls the Heavens (Matthew 28:18). The enemy is the dark “king” who controls the world (Ephesians 6:12, 1 John 5:19) The dark king thinks that he is playing a chess game, but the battle has already been fought and the White King has already won; the enemy is a defeated foe: “Jesus told them: I saw Satan fall from heaven like a flash of lightning.” (Luke 10:18) The enemy uses us like pawns and seeks to destroy us, manipulating us and trying to make us captives of sin and fear. Jesus, our White-robed King sees us as friends (John 15:15), not “pawns”. We have been given free will, we are not and never will be pawns in the enemy’s power. Jesus will go out of His way to protect us and bring us safely home to Him. (Matthew 18:11-13)
I also came across this: “The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.” (Revelation 21:24). (The whole chapter is here: Revelation 21:1-27) When the end of the earth comes, there will be a new heaven and a new earth and God will dwell with us. The only kings will be those on the earth. Jesus will bestow a kingdom upon us and give us the right to rule as kings (Luke 22:29). PRAYER: Dear Jesus, thank You that You are our shepherd, protector, Ambassador, friend and Saviour. Thank You that the enemy has no power to destroy us when we dwell in You, because You have already defeated him. I pray that we will always be safe from the lies and any attempts by the enemy to manipulate us and make us captives to fear and self-doubt. May we always remember that we have protection in You and that You “have given us authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm us.” (Luke 10:19) In Your blessed name! Amen. 🙏
